On a side note, I saw someone else who doesn't play this game, anymore... - I hate the fucking word "pwn." It originated out of the word "pawned," but was retardo-fied by the geniuses on the internet.:

I found a new online game that's like Final Fantasy Tactics / Tactics Ogre / Disgaea and going into closed beta soon. The only downside: it's a fucking browser game. (Seriously, are developers so god damned lazy these days that they can't make a standalone game, and have to rely on being in a browser window? Fuck people that want to play their shit on phones.) Sadly, also a browser game, but Mechwarrior Tactics sounds just like what you're looking for... And of course, it uses the Battletech rules and setting, so it's already familiar territory. Personally, I played Battletech on the tabletop way back in ye early 1990s. Also, if you hadn't heard, the Battletech franchise was relaunched a few years back with a whole boatload of new story content and is making a hell of a comeback.

| Thanks, but I already played Mechwarrior Tactics. (I got into the beta.) It's a browser game that is widescreen, high resolution only. The problem with the game is that either the text is entirely too small and poorly contrasted to read, or, if you zoom out, the sides of the screen (that you need to play the game) are missing. I had extensive talks with the mods and the developers and, after making fun of me and my display setup, they pretty much told me to buy a new monitor or fuck off. (I run 1024x768 on a 24inch CRT monitor.) - Default Resolution / Can't Read the Text:
- Zoomed In / Both Sides are Missing:
I truly love Battletech, but fuck the company that is producing Mechwarrior Tactics. I intend on giving that game as many negative reviews as I can on as many sites as I can.

| Started playing Tera today after the download took about.. I'm gonna say 9 or so hours (God that thing was fucking retarded. Like, one second, you're downloading @ 2+ MB/s, then it drops down to 10 kb/s and stays there for 30 minutes. And the non-p2p was even worse. Anyways, started a Slayer (ofc, had to go Elin, couldn't resist. :3). Played for a few hours, up until the logging area and then stopped to do other stuff. I'm honestly pretty surprised I'm not bored of the combat. At least at low levels, it's not much better than generic point&click MMORPG's. That said, I'm quite enjoying myself, even if I'm just doing quests and other grindy stuff.
Also out of curiousity, how far does the current "trial f2p" stuff let you go? I mean, I know it caps at level 28, but how long does it take to get to 28 even?

You'll end up beating the wrong person Bell didn't invent the telephone. ..and that statement led me to an educational twenty minutes or reading on the history of sending voice signals through wires. (I'd still like to bop him a time or two, though.. just for good measure.)

Playing all day will get you to lvl 28 in a week. Leveling's easy in TERA and then it gradually stagnates at lvl 50.

| Oh damn reading this gave me some good memories. Good to see other people that appreciate Air Ride (Bulk Star for long jump champion). Anyway, I've picked up Labyrinth of Touhou again. I actually cleared 30F and started a new game+ with a random list of characters, currently on 13F. I tried TERA as well, but I can't say I was overly engaged in the beginning. | |

Oh yay, someone else who enjoys Air Ride. I don't see why so many people hated it. And about TERA, it is indeed boring for the 1st few lvls. or so, but don't worry, a couple of peeps told me it gets better at around the 11-13 lvl. mark. I've only been playing for a day or two, and I've only got 2 more levels before I reach my goal. So don't worry, keep going do that dark tunnel, and soon you'll see the light.

This reminds me I never got past chapter 8 in Genius of Sappheiros and the English patch is finished now. I should pick that up again. I'm sure you probably posted it elsewhere but I'm too lazy to check; what party are you using for this run of LoT?

Spoiler'd for those who haven't played through it but don't want to be spoiled: - Spoiler:
Marisa, Remilia, Cirno, Minoriko, Sanae, Ran, Eirin, Tenshi, Orin, Rinnousuke, Maribel, Kanako
I haven't really been pulling my hair out on any bosses yet, although high-MND bosses limit my choice of attackers and anything with absurd defenses will likely be an issue with no defence ignoring attacks.

| I've always loved Japanese SNES and PSX games that have fan translations. Sadly, though, I've already played every one that has ever piqued my interest. I am frequently trolling around romhacking.net in hopes of finding a new fan translation.
So, today, I decided to try looking into Japanese PC games that had been translated into English by the fans. I ran across that Labyrinth of Touhou game that you people were speaking of, but all the links to its translation were several years old and no longer function. I'll be downloading that when I can find it somewhere else. I also am in the process of downloading Gadget Trial, but it is in several parts and it downloads as fast as sucking a gallon of syrup through a coffee straw.
The only one that I have successfully downloaded and started playing, so far, is Farland Symphony.. which is far less advanced than Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre, but in the same genre. It's kind of weird to be controlling a TRPG with a mouse. Anyway, I went to the homepage of the group that translated FS and found that other game y'all were going on about: Melty Blood. It looks pretty, but I don't really care for fighters.
