Anti Lag Teleporting System


In an attempt to prevent teleporting/lag armor problems, we have changed the way that the server calculates the position of players with latency above a certain threshold. Ideally, this will accomplish the following:

Up until now - lagger sees everyone around him teleporting, other players see lagger teleporting.

With the new system - lagger sees himself teleporting, other players see lagger moving normally.

This means that players with slow internet connections may experience what seems to be, from their point of view, an increase in lag or loss of control. However, from the point of view of everyone else, these lagging players will appear to be moving normally.

The latency threshold is currently set at 300 ms, meaning that only players with over 300 ms of latency will be affected by the new system. We will be adjusting the threshold as necessary in order to prevent lag-abuse as much as possible without making the game completely unplayable for players with slower connections.

OMGWTFBBQ, The jerking movements of the lag teleports are making it impossible to move properly!
Yes we wanted an Anti-Lag system, but not one that makes the entire game unplayable!

Total sh1t system.

For me i don't teleport, or see anyone teleporting. While you think its fine, i take damage for no reason. I even "suicided" in volcanic haven lava while not being near any lava.

That aside i couldnt even damage the pumpkins

the only thing i can do with lag is fire pillar. Works everytime

It doesn't even really work properly. It says that only people >300ms will be affected, but currently people <300ms feel the teleportan too, while the indos in ch3 brd area are celebrating because somehow they feel no lag whatsoever now.





UPDATE: New threshold of 500ms

So we lag like indo now?

I'm under 300ms in Ping, I shouldn't be lagging.

I'm not seeing any teleporting or teleporting myself from here in the UK. I can actually hit former 'lagkuns' regularly.

I think they mean that the lagger sees the teleport..but we don't teleport in -our- perspective.

Meh. This isn't a fix at all. But still..better than nothing.

inb4 emergency maintenance if it really works now as you said it does

it should have been set at 150ms and set in stone.

screw all the laggers.

if your over 200ms you need to either

A) get a better connection and/or computer

B) find a closer game to you.

500ms is total bull. thats more then triple the standard for lag in online games.

hell i can play JP version with 100ms ping. (and im on the other side of the world. whats your excuse?)

So you want total alienation then. I'll laugh if the "alienation" option ends up emptying the servers.

Not that you'd be worried by a setback like that.
