| Hmmm, interesting.
I can run CB, using Win XP SP 2 compat mode and Administrator. Win automatically disables graphics themes or something (no transparency in windows and reverts back to basic visuals) when the game starts. However I get crashes from time to time (whole computer freezes / screen fizzes out like a lost video transmission / audio freezes), especially when changing area / switching from area to arena and vice-versa.
Specs on laptop are: Win 7 64-bit Professional SP1 Core i5 M540 2.53 GHz 6 GB RAM nVidia GeForce GT 330 M, 256 MB, driver version 188.80 DX 11 display driver version 8.16.11.8880 Realtek HD Audio DX 11 sound driver 6.00.0001.6028
Maybe we could form a trend / database of crashes or something.

| So it just won't run? What's your laptop, a refurb like mine? Jesus let me tell you all the drivers- all of them- are as unstable as a skyscraper made of gum and straws. Running certian programs at once would make the dispaly driver crash, about 2% of the time recovering and closing CB (which didn't seem to cause the crashing itself, it seemed to scapegoat for a recovery) the mousepad driver didn't work and some other ones also hate me. If I were you I'd try re-installing Windows 7 itself. If it wasn't via disk, it could also cause a little problems... My laptop is a refurb inspiron with a 3.4 rating out of ten (windows told me on some control panel thing) so it's not exactly meant for gaming but CB is a-ok. You clould also reinstall CB (and for the LOVEOFGOD use firefox or something else that's not IE and supports resumable downloads). As a rule of thumb, if it dosen't work, always start at square one and reboot everything, if not from a last known good setting Tsu the Tech Wizard of Love and Cupcakes, out. | |

Tsu the Tech Wizard of Love and Cupcakes, out. If you're referring to mine, it's not a refurb. It's a brand new (when I bought it) Sony Vaio VPCZ-127. I can't reinstall everything without having to go through the trouble, and it's not worth it to do it for a game like this anyway. I use it for a lot of things. Just throwing the specs out here so the option is open to people interested in compiling a trend or something. If you're referring to LXE and idunn0, well, over to you guys then...

| Let me clarify on that last bit, the last known good:
System Restore if the date isn't horrible.
And yeah, it's a bit dramatic, but I'd give it a 90% chance of at leat fixing that one error. Problem is, it would be hard to get all your stuff on flash drives if you have a lot of it.
All of Tsu's tech wizardry is done at the discretion of the victim student and are done as their will. Tsu will not accept responsibility for making things worse, making a computer spontaneously combust, or not finding a cheaper solution.

| OK, I bought a new laptop. This time it's got a Core i5 and a Radeon HD graphics card.
It's not working, still got this black screen of death. |

| They really should release a windows 7 compatible installer. Trying to run CB in XP when it's slowly being phased out by Microsoft would make problems later. | |

| I'm really not an expert on this, but I do know that this black screen inside the window is exactly what happens if I accidentally use a different programm that is also using Java. | |
