most figurines that people would resale are not "action figures", they are eyecandy and thus fit a different niche than your transformers and comics which are entertainment items
you would be better off comparing them to the plates that housewifes tend to collect in certain areas, or vases or candles

the figures also come in VERY limited stock and some are sold out pretty fast (a week to a month) - action figures and comics on the hand would best be compared to .... jp action figures and mangas

Seriously guys, to each his own. Who the hell cares what someone else does with their money, they earned so they can spend it however they like. Though if you look at it, anything we buy is a waste to people around you. Buying a figurine can be compared a waste of money to some people, just like buying rt is a waste of money to others. Walk outside and some people probably think cars, dogs, computers, internet, plants, and w.e else is also a waste of money. Basically what I'm trying to say is you can say anything is a waste of money so stop going crazy about it and stop telling others not to buy it since it is a waste. Money is money so it can be spent on whatever they like. If they enjoy having a figurine, a comic book, rt, cars, other wants, let them buy it and enjoy it.

Also stop having arguments over whats art and whats not. If you enjoy it, that's more than enough reason to buy it.

Buuuuuut I have to just say one thing about value and stuff. Things like real estate, stocks, pieces of "art" can be sold for a profit. I don't know anything bout figurines so I don't if they sell for more or if their value decreases, but I'm assuming the people in this thread buy them because they wanna put them up and stuff, not to sell them again. That's one of the reasons the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Most things people with money buy, appreciate in value, while most of the things people without money buy depreciate the instant they are bought. Business has a point about buying pieces of "art", since you will eventually make money if you play your cards right, but spending money to make money isn't the greatest thing to do. Buy things that you want instead, its your money.

The point of entertainment is there is no point. When you buy luxurious candies, I doubt their net worth will increase with time. When you see a movie, the ticket stub is most likely worthless. Comparing entertainment spending to financial spending is like comparing apples to Mitten's side burns.
