I see a few Kuten guides around, I'm not sure if the build should be different though.
Any advice on an assassin build?
I'm using accel saber bs + black ribbon + berry earrings + 2 bucklers

My questions:

Should I go 40/18 boost run? Or will that be too much tune/cost? (For quick assassinations and running the fuck away when
I see resha or a suspicious looking black shadow)

What tough should I aim for?

What carts would be the best for an assassin build?

Red tier is usually just fine. Purple is probably overdoing it.

I would take out the grappler for str tunes instead. Grappler -speed isn't very good for your quickpaced Kuten Combo.

Shortboost is also really really useful. Like, mandatory useful. Quickboost is also a nice addition to boost run. Alternatively, you COULD do float dash... But I've only heard and not seen those so.. it sounds fun, at least.

I would go
x5 Capa
Boost Run
Broad Radar
Short Boost

2 of the following:
Blast Guard
Stun Regain
Quick Boost

I wouldnt suggest Bucklers just simply because of the fact you'll be really tight on capacity otherwise. I'd suggest Tonosama Lander BS, and 2x Fireflower with Black Layer Ribbon and Berry Earring. Tune to red-teir (34/16, 35/15 are good breakpoints to reach for), get 2-3x slow, and 12 tgh minimum. As for carts, shortboost/boost run/stun regain/broad radar are musts IMO.

I have mine built very similarly to what Trill suggests, but I did manage to fit in dual bucklers as well. The thing I'd like advice on is what to put as the third tune on the kicks. Is 3x slow really worth the chips? I can see grappler being bad cause of the speed, but what about a regular gladiator? or should I just pump Str? I have 35 capa and 4 slots left, counting the one in the legs. I think with a 2 slot buckler I could make 39/18 boost run, but that seems excessive...

CBEN players are just incapable of critical thinking. We just can't see anything that is bloody obvious.

This just inspires me to tweak my builds.

To tell you the truth, I never had the need to have Broad Radar on my Kuten (red tier boost run).

But my build probably wouldn't be liked because I made it without any help and it was made for me to do well with it, not someone else.

Blast Guard, Boost Run, Short Boost, Stun Regain, Quick Boost. 2 slows, no third tune on the LG, only 1 buckler. 29 str is plenty for me.

Have you played sans broad radar with all the Eris spam? It is all that keeps my Kuten alive. I had one nail me for 198 one time. One mistake and Kuten is toast.

What I'd do on Kuten

Considering I got her too, I'd really suggest either Shortboost or Float Dash (not kidding at all) in tandem with Boost Run, Shortboost, Stun Regain( or Quick Boost ), and Broad Radar.

As for the debate about Stun Regain : It definately helps. You take a SDC shot for 40-60 and recovery nets you maybe 20 HP back or so it seems. Assuming it only did 40 damage, that literally halves the damage you took. I'm probably innacurate on the SDC/regain on HP, but the concept is still the same. I personally suggest taking Stun Regain on all bots that have it, unless other carts are literally required.

I also like my stun regain. Seems like almost everything stuns a 12 tgh bot so a little extra hp helps. What are the advantages of using float dash? I considered it, but it is twice as expensive as short boost, and short boost gets me over obstacles too.

Anyway, here is what I have so far

Assuming you tune up progressively (starting with 3x slows on the LG):

- Blast guard
- Sword guard
- Quick boost
- Boost run
- Short boost
- Stun regain
- Broad radar

Aim for 36 WLK (quick boost-less boost run lands are terrible, broad radar-less are the worst), add some STR and HP then drop boost run and quick boost.

Bucklers on Kuten are stupid, do you guys even check how the arms behave when the bot runs before putting those on? Use beam gun mod or another effective back-up gun instead.

Hitboxes are static. No matter where the shields end up moving to, they cover the space where they are when you're standing still.

Gonna check that out later, really later. I swear animation upon impact shows it's absorbing damage from the direction faced when running, or it absorbs from both directions?

His post is a little hard to understand, because he is describing a tune as you go sort of thing. I think the final build he is advocating is 36 walk 3x slow with 5x Capa, Broad Radar, Short Boost, Stun Regain, Sword Guard and Blast Guard. Any left over capa to Str and HP.
