General weapon recommendations? Empty
PostSubject: General weapon recommendations?   General weapon recommendations? EmptyFri Sep 24, 2010 4:18 am

I'm having a bit of a weapon crisis. I've tried about a dozen types, but none of them are reliable to the point where I can say to myself, "This is the one."

My main issue right now is finding a balance between power and accuracy. The accurate weapons I've tried do measly amounts of damage, and the weapons that do far more aren't accurate to the point where the power is being successfully utilized on anything other than inattentive, stationary targets.

What weapons do you have great success with? I can never seem to snag more than a a few kills per round no matter that I use, and while a 3-0 or 3-1 K-D ratio isn't bad, I feel like I should be doing better.

Weapons I've tried thus far:
The Wide Beam Gun is a great starter weapon: low cost, high ammo, Beam, decent range, and a large round. I don't regret using it and still go back to it, particularly for Arcantus.

The Pulse Gun is similar to the Wide Beam, but I never felt that the added stun capability was worth the sacrifice in damage and accuracy (due to the far smaller round).

In search of something more accurate, I tried the UC Beam Rifle. Compared to the Wide Beam, it was an outright downgrade. Far less ammo; the extra damage is countered by the longer fire interval; the faster bullet speed is countered by the smaller round. It was not an Auto Beam Rifle.

The Handy Bazooka was a magnification of the above issues. While still useful as a sidearm for Air to Air combat, it was near useless in all other situations. That said, it was a better recommendation than the Beam Rifle.

The Handy Laser was great in that it was amazingly accurate once you were in range, and dealt considerable damage. Sadly, its range was such an issue that I began to question its worth. I probably should have spent more time with it, but I moved on anyway.

The Power Shooter was an interesting weapon. It has amazing range and amazing speed, but it does a piddly amount of damage and shoots slower than a Wide Beam. This was the reverse situation of the Handy Laser.

The Cross Shooter (similar to the above) has proven most accurate out of the weapons I've used thus far, but it dealt only 8 damage per shot to most targets. Its damage would most likely be acceptable if used with lots of Tech behind it, but I don't have a robot for that.

Finally, the two weapons I am currently using: Auto Beam Rifle Mod + Garulabird AM. They're both semi-automatic, so they pair up well (particularly for Bursts).

The ABRM is a Beam, deals decent damage (due mainly to its triple-shot) and has an average amount of ammo. Sadly, I still find that this weapon is easily dodged unless I am uncomfortably close (somewhat outside of Laser range).

The Garula remedies half of this: it does more damage, has more range and shoots more rounds per salvo, all at a reduced cost; its actually fairly accurate. If it weren't for the glaring ammo deficiency, this would be the only weapon I ever used. Unfortunately, 180 ammo means I only get 36 salvos before I run dry, which is a huge issue.

The end result is that I can't afford using precious Garula ammo unless I'm Bursting or absolutely need the accuracy (anti-air or trying to grab a kill). Also, even with the ABRM's higher ammo, longevity is an issue; I often run dry near the end of a Shuffle, and am guaranteed to run out in an Epoch (I'll instead bring a Wide Beam and a Cross Shooter(?) to compensate).

I fear that the only weapon I'll be satisfied with is Cards, despite the bad-mannered stigma that comes with them. Everything else has an irreparable flaw (save for the Cross Shooter and perhaps Handy Laser/Bazooka, which I'd like to pursue eventually).

well, personally i like a beam machinegun.. i use it on my air types when i need to shoot fast moving targets..
it has lots of ammo & a decent range for a machinegun... small dmg but the rapid fire makes up for it..

as for other guns, i also use assault rifle which is like auto beam rifle, but instead of beams it fires shell bullets
nice accuracy, range & damage..

particle gun is also good if u're fighting against big bots, only downside is u need to get close...

Handy laser runs out of ammo too quickly

if u want cheap weapon for quest or certain missions, i'd recommend beam rifle solely because it shoots through enemies..

For UC AIR...
Handy Laser and Laser is accurate and damaging but short range.
Wide Beam Gun is good but slow. What you can use is a (Limited)Plasma Gun or tune up your (Wide)Beamgun.
Blasters for large targets. I personally don't like them, but they have piercing capabilities.
Beam Machine Gun is good, though requires you to be in a closer range than with the laser due to its short range and its bullet spread.

For UC LND...
Custom Mag due to high power, good bullet speed and just barely enough reach to hit AIR types.
Burners for the troll factor and surprisingly high damage output.
Rage Machine Gun due to its Hyper Shot-like firing rate.

For UC ART...
Bazookas for obvious reasons.
Missiles for long-range fighting.
Muskets for long-range combat that aren't explosives. Requires a speedy robo so it should only be used with Lily Rain, Destructor Girl and Psycho Formula.

Just get weapons with only a flaw in range, and tune them up with extra range.

Personally, I use a Raid Rifle on my LND and a Blast Bazooka on my ART. Using the Raid Rifle is like using a Battle Rifle that does around 10-25 damage per bullet. It's usually so effective that I run out of bullets before I can die. The Blast Bazooka is quite a force on mobs, especially since I gave it some range so I won't have to get too much in the mix myself.

I suggest using two Izuna boosters and two shields.

You won't do as much as LND units, but you'll hit about 50% of the time, have decent enough ammo (540 ammo isn't bad when each salvo hits for 30-40 with 10 TEC. ) and it's nigh-impossible to die. Further, Izuna wisps home on their own and require no aiming on your part.

Raystag head is another good idea. You'll run out of ammo fast (limited to 60 bursts of 6 simultaneously released homing lasers) but the homing makes up for it.

Auto Beam Rifle Mod and Power Shooter are what I use on my air type. All the other weapons I've used didn't seem potent enough. Both can be won in the Gatcha.

I request UC weapons that can take on a boost jumping LND type with a Domiclown AM3 and Lancerlot AM2 and any air type with Accel Loop.

Me I usually found these two guns to be my bread-and-butter

Accelerated Gun
Handy Bazooka

And I'd usually also grab dual rifle bits.

It's really akward trying to hit anything in this game with the projectiles that almost move even slower than some of the players in some cases. Been trying to practice with an auto beam rifle & mini bazooka on seph crim with her as my main, but 95% of my kills still comes from my 4 toybox-missle armed toybox & ouka. Just cant seem to land hits consistently with the auto rifle.

Got a large sized air type geared with a negatron rifle & omega blaster today too though. If nothing else, the large negatron rifle shot was pretty accurate compared to the other weapons like the auto beam rifle at a distance. The omega blaster was nice for air vs air battles & close range. The damage was dissapointing considering the 180 wep cost/firing speed & the fact that they are L & LL sized at around only 15-30dmg, but I guess adding to tec would help that?

I dont see how negatron is more accurate than auto beam rifle since auto beam rifle projectiles actually travel similar/slightly faster than negatron. Though, if it works for you then great.

Much bigger bullet/beam size Razz

Each beam seperatly is roughly the size of an entire bursts worth. Small delay on the first shot each clip though when the gun is unfolding...

I recently acquired an Izuna to use a Blitz Blaster I Gara'd earlier, and I must say... the thing hits like a truck and rarely misses. Granted, it's rare that all nine shots will hit (unless it's a fat Artillery, at which point the thing just dies), but it's still quite the powerhouse. It's the goofiest looking thing I've ever seen (it covers the entire character portrait), but it's effective.

Oh, and Izuna's Tailwisps. Those things are accurate enough to hit card-spammers every time. That's a godsend.

Desu made a trolling build once, with Crimrose, Izuna Kamui LG+BS and as many shields as you like.

Got him top in damage.

If you nab her uncursed form as well you can junk it and have both boosters on at once. x:

General weapon recommendations? Paralyzer

I added speed, that helped it to hit more often.
I added the extra stun chance for obvious reasons, I can even take down those annoying Shaden users with relative ease.

I know the fire rate is a little low, and it's not quite as strong as a plasma gun, but this thing certainly is a very efficient gun. Lots of ammo too.

Thanks for the tip. It's rare that I ever run out of Wisps, but it was a nice addition and I very much enjoy the added +4 Fly. The booster is quite the cost hog, though; when I'm wearing it in addition to my Blitz Blaster, I only have about 30 cost left for my other weapon. Doesn't leave much room for anything but a Beam Gun Mod and a few low-cost upgrades.

Also, on a whim, I made this little gem:
General weapon recommendations? Peacemakerh

It's a little short on ammo, but I have never in my entire career seen a more accurate weapon. It's just a shame that I can only use it on my Winberrl, who I'm not too great at piloting.

Curious as to where you found the Izuna/Peace Maker.
Which Gachapon?

I know the Izuna can be bought.

And Amateus Very Happy .

Do you ever tried the powered laser ? Small range, long time to charge but insane damages. And you can charge it during your approach of your aim. Unfortunately, it's a L weapon, so you can't use it on crimrose.

On my Seraph Crimrose :
My locked weapon for now is Auto Beam rifle mod. This weapon is weak against speed target, but it's a very good weapon overall, and as it's considered as a beam weapon, it does insane damages on LND, killing agressive Ivis or Ouka in no time. If you play well, this weapon can handle every situation.

My second weapon is one of these, depending :
- Particle Gun mod : It seems that this weapon isn't buyable on garapon/shop. I won it as a clan reward. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I find this as a incredible weapon.
Particle gun normal stat :
Force : 6
Ammo : 1300
Range : 180
Speed : 200
Int : 420

Particle gun mod stats :
Force : 9
Ammo : 800
Range : 160
Speed : 200
Int : 420
Attack speed : quicker, ta-ta-ta-ta instead of ta---ta---ta---ta

Even with a 20 range loose and less ammo (but still enough, as a shot use 5 ammo, 80 shot), it have a nasty +33% damage and a .... well... QUICK attack speed (belong to me). That mean you're hitting a big ART/FLY for 27-45 damage usually by shot. I don't know if it is considered as a Beam weapon, but I do alot of damages on LND units. Didn't check out but often a rape. Usually I rape big SUP like bugsait or Greinaut. By far more useful than a blaster, which do near 0 damages to small units (well, 5-10, and around 18-27 for particle gun mod). And it cost 40. And oh I forget, it give +1 in FLY instead of -1 in WLK !

- Power shooter. Yes little damage. But yes big precision, and big range. More reliable on AIR fight than particle gun mod. But as I'll upgrade the speed of my Auto beam rifle mod, maybe I'll pass if the bonus is enough to hit often.

- SB pitcher. A very funny weapon, useful for harrassing the enemy campers without taking any risk.

Yes, I have. Fun little toy, charge time really doesn't bother me too much, but yeah, shame it's too huge for Crim or Mecha Jetter Girl(2 favorite AIR types).

Never liked that weapon. On account that I can't hit anything with it all my life and I kinda hate blaster type weapons.
