I'm in to Slipknot, Rammstein, Mushroomhead and a little bit of Static-X and KoRn. B4 you say anything about nu-metal, only KoRn is a legit nu-metal band. Slipknot denies being a nu metal band too, Mushroomhead just gets pulled in by people who think slipknot and mushroomhead are the same.
I know heavy metal fans are in to the big four and the "classic" metal bands but i cant find it in me to like those really. Idk why, thats just my taste. I do like their instruments but I listen more to the vocals and the lyrics and I dont really like the other bands vocals. Idk thats just me. I love how they never talk about love, sex, drugs, vices, etc. like everybody does. It gets sickening when you hear everybody talk about these again and again.
I also recommend Incubus' first and second album and Primus to any metal fans out there. I'd call those alternative metal and really good too.
Will this be a single post? O3o
Feel free to post what bands you like and etc.

I'm a bit of a metal head myself, but not the kind of metal you listen to.
For example, I prefer symphonic metal, and stuff kinda like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CsmFLGPkRU Basically indescribably amazing

Old Slipknot was good. I first heard them on a bootleg CD with a paper label from some other country. Their sound was virile and passionate. Now the band is making emo sounding music.
Rammstein is OK. I love industrial music.
I liked Korn's first three CDs, but it seemed like they sold out years ago. I wouldn't willingly listen to anything they do now.
I never really liked a whole album from Static X or Mushroomhead. It was alright, but not that great.
I adore old Cradle of Filth. Once they had that faggot HIM on their album, I stopped buying them.
Dimmu Borgir was never that great, but sometimes I'll pop in some of their work just for variety's sake.
The Japanese band Sigh has a few good songs, but I don't like an entire album.
Check out the Canadian band Unexpect, their music is.. quite eclectic. I especially like the song, "Meet me at the Carousel." I challenge anyone to listen to a full album, though.
Morbid Angel has one badass music video, "God of Emptiness." I really haven't listened to much else of their music.

@Cybernetic you should check out rammstein. theyr cool
@AnTi90d I'm actually quite new to the metal scene. I've only come to the metal genre this year so I appreciate a metal head.
I agree with most of what you said. Yeah I miss the older slipknot too but they arent that bad now. I'm actually listening to complete mushroomhead albums for the first time now but I like quite a few songs. I like waylon's singing. It's intriguing...
I really like rammstein's music its just too bad that i dont understand german :/.
I like 3-4 songs from KoRN and Static-X lol. I'd say like Ya'll Want a Single, Freak on a Leash, (and the one with the music vid with snoop i forget >.< lulz), Destroyer and Cold...
I think it's really rare to find a band that can make an album with no off songs. As far as I know, slipknot and incubus have done it both with their first two albums(imo). It's even rarer to find a band that can keep doing that consistently. I dont really look at their albums, i pretty much look at their most popular songs before I get their albums.
Thanks for sharing I'm gonna check those out.

Orchestral is not symphonic metal silly. Symphonic metal is basicly power rock with female vocals and violins. Basically night wish stuff like that etc.
Anyways I like my my metal like my beers and liquor HEAVY AS FUCK. The slow start represents me being sober the last song represents how drunk and fucked up I am at the end. YYYAAAHHHHHH
As a Mma fighter this one hits hard at me the whole gracie fam is in there who help start this great sport I love and fight in.

I only listen to sophisticated metal for sophisticated people such as myself.
No but seriously, I mainly only listen to djent and technical metal now with a few others mixed in. From heavy to soft, to make things more understandable if anyone wants to look any of these bands up Born of Osiris, Opeth from Blackwater Park and onward, Callisto, Between the Buried and Me, At the Drive in, Periphery, Karnivool, Porcupine Tree
Most metal is angsty music aimed at highschoolers for the most part, but then again that IS how it started, then it kind of evolved into an actual musical movement, then devolved back down into angry angst music with nu metal hit again.
However, in all actuality, I listen to next to no metal. My music of choice is usually Drum n Bass and Jungle, along with some dubstep/electronic (Noisia being an example)

For some one with usually very good sense of music that song was shit.
And ya there are quite a few metal songs I stop listening to cause of the very bad and easy to make child level lyriccs. ALL THAT REMAINS IM LOOKING AT YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT GIRLS DUMPING YOU SO MUCH.
Im falling in love with Heaven shall born not only does there music send a message but its in a aggressive manner which is the only way to get a message across.
I love this band cause the excissive screaming is for a reason since the general populace is death blind and dumb.

I'm into symphonic and gothic metal, like Nightwish and Lacuna Coil. I'm also into some death metal like Arch Enemy.

Dont want strike a nerve but i strongly disagree. I really dont know why anyone would think metal is "angsty and aimed at highschoolers". That was NEVER how it started either. How did you even get that idea? Have you never seen a picture of a metal head with long hair a beard and a leather jacket? Have you even listened to any of the songs from the emergence of metal??? I was the only guy that listened to metal in high school and im sure that it would be rare to find a teenager that listens to metal. Teenagers can go suck on their pop. I dont wanna start an argument with you but really it kinda pisses me off for anyone to dismiss metal as simply "angry angst music for teenagers" as that's what i would describe emo/punk music and i loath emo as much as i do pop and hiphop and I seriously doubt you know much about metal either. Nu metal is quite small. You probably think "nu metal" means "new metal" like most people do when they hear the term nu metal. If you're gonna classify any band into nu metal you better make sure their sound is actually nu metal.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about this thread. I came home, Sunday night, extremely inebriated.
Bile - Their old stuff was great. Don't bother with their new stuff. They changed their name and they suck bad. Anything made before Nightmare Before Kirtzoff.. or something like that. I just woke up and I don't feel like double checking the spelling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HGgN43NkC0
GWAR - Their old stuff totally fkn rules. They used to be called Death Piggy (for one album) and I strongly recommend DL'ing that one. The next four or five they made were awesome. I don't really care about their newer music. They sort of lost their passion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCNYK_9hKDk
Fear Factory - This band was better in the middle of their career. Their first and last two albums were kinda crappy. Demanufacture was my favorite one. They also used to make techno remixes of their work. Remanufacture is the techno version of Demanufacture.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztLOXDw-3hY
I have to poop now, so that's all I'm posting for today. I might pick up again later.

It's simply my opinion, by all means feel free to disagree with me, however, after working in and with the music industry for 3 years you kind of become pretty jaded about things like this. Try touring and playing shows with bands who are stuck in the teenager mindset while they're in their 30s and it might make a bit more sense. The same could apply for any genre, yes, but it seems to be especially true for metal in a sense.. there's just no real innovation going on in it anymore outside of the djent movement unfortunately.
Don't take me wrong though, I didn't say it's all like that. Just most of it, and there's alot of metal out there. There's the good and the bad of everything, however the bad tends to be the louder of the two in every case ever.

The easiest way to hate or completely loose interest in a form of music is to work in that said music.

I never said I didn't listen to it at one point. Hell, I worked with it for a large fraction of my teenage years. Used to be a big fan of basically every form of metal, some of my favorites being Strapping Young Lad, Born of Osiris, Dark Tranquillity, Fear Factory, Nevermore, Whitechapel, and stuff of that vein, but it's something you just grow out of in my opinion (feel free to disagree I'm not forcing anything on anyone here), namely after you experience it in a sense. Also, one does not need to enjoy a genre of music to play it, assuming you love music enough or are in fortunate enough of a situation that should be the last thing on your mind. I know I sure as hell didn't enjoy metal during my last year of dealing with it (last live show I can really remember enjoying was, hilarious enough, Miku Hatsune at AX11), but the enjoyment of playing music comes more out of the idea of people enjoying what you've created, and the traveling (though, if you're not selling out shows touring really isn't worth it because you'll never rake back in what you end up spending, and the labels usually don't give enough of a fuck to give you maybe a dollar per mile for christs sake, specially on an indie label).
Also, I said after playing shows with these kinds of bands (there's a reason that's pastense). After playing with bands such as Deicide, Morbid Angel, Bring me the Horizon and those kinds of bands you sort of begin to realize these fanbases are fucking terrible. Maybe it's because the genres I was involved with were mainly mindless thrash metal or deathcore subgenres (funny how these two genres seem to end up together alot but tend to fucking hate eachother), but it's not even the musicians as much as it is the fanbase that makes me sort of dislike metal in it's current state. Infact I'd say it's mostly the fanbase because I've met some pretty cool people who you'd never ever expect to act like they do after listening to their music. There's really nothing to get pissed over, I'm just simply defending my statement like any sane man would and would prefer to keep this sensible and not have it turn into an internet shit tossing fest.
