How to magnum?

I suck with magnums. I wish to try a magnum build though. With Renny Lop.

How exactly what tunes and what range should I go to use this?

And, how do I play using a magnum hopper?

Haven't worked with Renny much.

Good magnum-type weapons to work with include:
-Combat Magnum(370 ammo, 15(?) Force, 300 speed, forget the range but it's decent, somewhere round 230, +2 WLK, iirc +120 cost, LND only so it works with Renny)
-Custom Magnum(270 ammo, 16(?) Force, similar speed and range, +1 WLK +1 FLY, iirc +100 cost)
-Handy Magnum(i don't remember the stats, but +15 cost, no stats. IIRC 250 ammo).

Most magnums suffer from ammo deficiency if you're fighting a prolonged battle. Unless you're conserving ammo effectively, thinking about tuning ammo isn't a bad idea. High Air Force would fit that bill well, and comes with 10% speed bonus for 45 cost, so it's doubly effective if you only have one slot to work with. High Shooter is also an option, but Magnum ranges are usually long enough for you to engage without needing to get in your target's face.

Speed is also a good idea, although it's tough cutting into either ammo or range unless you're using Combat Magnum and can afford the ammo cut, and basic Speed tuning isn't as effective. Force is also something worth thinking about, though it's usually not necessary because magnums generally have good Force to start with.
You can also consider Paralyze, as Magnum-type weapons tend to fire rapidly and accurately at the target with good base damage. With Hypershot and Paralyze, it's conceivable to singlehandedly stunlock a target, although I've never tested that myself.

I haven't worked with hoppers at all, you're better off getting advice from somebody else on that.

I removed 1 Renny AM. Replaced with some whatever AM with a buckler.

I have one though for backup in case magnum out of ammo.

Combat mag or custom mag is good, i prefer combat.

handy mag (mod) is best mag

I'd say continue with both magnums if you're doing fine with them. Killing faster can mean the difference anyway.

Dual mag still works over here, not all builds are heavily dependent on metagame.

Personally I like to just go single combat mag and pelt people with mango shot.

As long as you have a shield.

"Metagame" is dependant on what the playerbase is playing.

By submitting yourself to "OH this is not the Meta", it just makes the game significantly less fun because everyone will need to "Adhere" to certain stereotypes and "rules".

Fuck that. Build whatever works, play and if you have fun and win at the same time, stick to it.

If it's combat mag/mod
Great rapid beta, then High air force if you need the ammo.

Personally though, combat mag/mod is fine untuned.

my renny uses renny am 2x and beamgun mod 2x as a run&gun bot (read: alphastriking without movement cards)

sounds crappy for the "meta" but it works, so yeah

edit: handy mags (and handy mag mods) also work, but i prefered the beamgun mods for the stopping power against land bots, which are the main targets of my gunning
you may also try a combination of zook, mags and beamguns

or just go a single high cost mag (one with good ammo though)

Er, I used to play on my Lily's high FLY and WLK stats to hop around like a fag and drop+alpha+gtfo. You can do it, but you might easily get caught by a marauding Vanguard or something.

Handy, hands down.
Auto has the worst ammo capacity of nearly the entire class of magnum weapons. It also fires a little more slowly(it could just be my perception though), and the projectiles don't fly as fast(again, could just be perception). It's also +30 cost, +1 FLY over Handy, and honestly the FLY just isn't worth it. Handy is a much more versatile and longer-lasting weapon that works decently without inflating your cost too much.

how much ammo does auto have? combat mag has like 240 or so

Auto has 250 ammo.
But Combat has 370.
