Shell based weapons question

You know all those weapons that no one ever seems to use like handy magnum, handgun, auto magnum? Aside assualt rifle and custom gun, are there are shell weapons even any good? I was thinking of making a bot that using shell based weapons due to the fact not that many people have invested into shell defense.

Any suggestions comments?

Drumgun and rifles are good shell based weapons. Magnums ain't bad either...

Also, not many people invest in shell defense because its a measly 10% reduction when compared to the 30%+ reductions on the other types

Accelguns are pretty useful. I run an accelgun/micro zooka combo on both my Medi Aide and C.S. with positive results.

What baffles me is that according to the stats, accelgun and machinegun bullets travel faster than a laser beam... In actual play, I just don't see how that translates.

Is bullet speed unrelated to tracking speed or what?

I think the speed on the laser only applies to it's initial shot? Or maybe it's the interval in which they will be damaged? There has to be some reason @_@

Use Handy magnum if you are tight on the cost,Military gun is a good alternative although it doesnt have much ammo
and one of the best shelled guns would be accel gun.
Don't even bother with drum gun or rage MG

Sort of can't wait for Folded Rifle AMJs/Gun Arm Mod/Armed Build Arm to come out.

Then my dream of a Rifle spamming Lily will be closer to reality.

Shells are universal wep, it can hit average dmg on all type.
i use shotgun to blast fat art, mostly die within 5-8sec if i can keep it pin.

What do you guys think about the Eight Vulcan?

It kills pretty fast and I use it on a ranged LND build, Cosmos Kaiser with Steel Rider +6 wlk legs/Victory HD, etc.

The problem is it runs out of ammo really fast and kind of weighs the bot down to ~20-22 wlk despite all the upgrades.

Any suggestions or should I just stick to it?

8, 9, and 10 vulcans are dumb and JP meta is centered around vulcan hoppers.

What do you suggest instead?

if you can't beat the Japanese, join them. Build a vulcan hopper.

Hand Mag, Single Gun, Accel Gun, Custom Gun, Drum Gun, even Auto Gun... they're strong, reliable and their damage isn't negated by a cart. If you think no one is using them, look closer.

Anyway, I have bots that use Shell Guard. Just not a lot of them.

so they give +1 walk, big fucking deal. They don't do shit damage wise.

may useful against Shotgun, but heck 10% ain't that much.
