why do people alpha, period

I used alpha builds and moes afew times (diana, akane, kataflap etc) and they get boring as fuck just spewing bullets everywhere and getting free points

One of my favorite mechs that I used, when I played Battletech, was the Longbow.. specifically the LGB-12C. It has 2 LRM20s and 2 LRM15s. That's just how Battetech is. Throw 70 missiles at someone in one salvo and hope that no one snipes you.. (and your mech doesn't overheat which is bad for something stuffed full of ammunition.)

I've been alphastriking since the early 90s.

Those builds take the fun outta the game tbh and makes the game more grindy in my opinion which i dont like....

Maybe it was bad players but the Istinas I've ran into didn't move much. So yea I kinda of feel that they're free artillery food. Dat tunnel vision from sniping mode might as well be a ringing bell for food though..As I recall that's the moment they hover still..

I've talked to Milez about Istina and I'm 99% sure he doesn't consider her OP

i don't care about alpha airs since they don't do anything normal airs can't already do.

there's that and there's also missile overranging being far more effective on artillery compared to airs.

don't forget to give them backboosts and melt decoys to have them AVOID their weakness

so today I RQ EE because the only ones knowing what the fuck to do were diabolical and milez. everybody else was too busy being shit to follow their own plan and "rush in and kill their medic (quoted from omegexe)" as if that's easy. I'll give credit to allegro and ahiru for being the only other people trying to do anything. I feel like I wasted my time.

Easy to kill is arguable, all depends on the user and his/her positional awareness. She has all the tools she needs to make herself a real pain in the arse.

the mentioned heat mechanic offsets alphastriking quite a bit more then the movement penalty of cb does.
especially in the games where you can actually blow up your reactor by overheating to badly (like mechwarrior 3)

Desert planets made it even more fun. Everyone would keep shutting down and blowing up.

I'd still be playing MW4 if Smith and Tinker didn't fail or if Mektek hadn't have decided to move on to Heavy Gear. I'd still be playing Battletech if I wasn't in an area where tabletop gaming is dead. I'd still be playing Mechwarrior DA/AOD if Wizards of the Coast hadn't have sold that shit to Topps, who ran it into the ground. I'd be playing MW5 if a better company had bought the rights. I'd be playing Mechwarrior: Tactics if a better company had bought the rights.
