| Well here goes nothing.
I said to a few people I am a doujin artist.
Thing is, more than an artist I am a writer. I am famous for getting straight X's for art. Not that I'm that bad I never focus in class.
So here comes my tutorial on my part of the manga industry, the storyboard.
Making storyboards are longer than you think.
Well not to worry, This sun will help you out.
STEP 1
The plot.
I'm not even gonna make one, since I'm too lazy.
So simply, you come out with an idea. Simple.
Then you expand on it, and brainstorm what happens etc.
Once you've finished and you're happy with it, next step.
STEP 2
The prose. Or whatever you call it.
So basically, you're gonna make what the character says, and instructions to the guy drawing.
EG
Dune : I'm a lolicon Sun : No shit sherlock Dune : [shrugs] Maybe I'm a Shinocon Sun : [annoyed] Yeah right.
Like that.
You check it over and over again to make sure no errors are made. One wrong instruction changes a lot.
STEP 3
The storyboard
Get an A4 paper.
Make a border of 5mm on each side.
There is the size of paper you will have to use for drawing standard manga.
Now, draw boxes to your liking, and make that so that the story can flow properly.
Get it checked.
STEP 4
The rough copy.
With the finished storyboard, draw in the characters, and speech bubble etc.
You don't need to make it some kind of art you're gonna sell for $1000, just stick figures are more than enough.
STEP 5
Check/Proofread
MAKE SURE YOU MADE NO MISTAKES.
STEP 6
Hand over to the artist.
Self explanatory.
Well there you go. Sun's lazy tutorial on drawing manga. Good Luck, and I accept any questions about this process or the drawing process. |
