I finally figured out what was fucked up in my home network. (For weeks I've been intermittently lagging.. and some days, like today, unable to play online games.) It's noise; I have some type of RF interference in my lines.

I found out how to get into my modem's status pages, (locked by my shitty ISP,) and saw that my signal to noise ratio hovers around 32-34.. and it should be 35 or greater. I'm going to have to spend Saturday installing some female terminators and going through my two story house, (actually, three.. if you count the basement,) checking all the coaxial wiring and the cable splitters. This is one of the few downsides in living in a large house.. the enormous amount of wiring.. (that, and it costs a fortune to heat the whole thing, in the winter.)

Well, my Saturday sounds like it'll be fun.. I get to screw female terminators.

Charter sucks. They want $35 to send some bozo out to half-ass the job. I'll only call them if I can't fix it myself. (I also hate waiting on their damned time windows. I'd rather spend four hours on Saturday fixing the problem than four hours waiting on an installer to keep their appointment, sometime later in the week.)
