A tip for shading to create more depth is to use both "solid" shading and "gradient" shading.
This is a little something I made for shading tips, hope you don't mind

if you ask how well you can try going random put shades where ever you want but just remember where the light is coming from XD

it was my fault that ignore Art Class for whole of my life, kinda ironic that i never interest about Art but now i'm start
to drawing.

you can & don't say you can't just keep trying even i lost my drawing skills at 4rth grade ive been trying to get them back since 3rd year High school

as for your 3d imaging you don't need that just get a reference a cloth & a flashlight you will see shades & highlights then try to copy what you see
