| I've read from someone (I forgot whom) that MMOs have to be set in a persistent world, and Cosmic Break only has lobbies and match-up rooms. It would be like calling Call of Duty multiplayer an MMO. What do you think? | |

| An MMO only needs to be 'Massively Multiplayer Online'. If a persistent world is a requirement, then nearly every F2P 'MMO' is using the title falsely, as the players have no lasting impact on the game's world.
If you think of an MMO as a game with you and buddies against lots of NPC mobs, that's what Arcantus is for.

| With around 300 players connected at once and only instance maps (even less than a common french private server)? Nah. No way. | |

Well, any game that can sustain a population of players at all times is considered massive.

| Welp, unlike CoD (or any other PvP-based), where we are stuck to menus and clickables for lobbies, CB actually has a lobby consisting of areas where we can fly and fool around with.
I think I can call that a 'persistent' world.

| I had a debate with my friend about this, its kinda a hard line to draw. the world is not as big as an MMO, has less community and social interactions then an MMO, its also not a persistent world due to how some MMO's continues if you log off, CB just stops if you log off.
We came to a conclusion that it was a 'a multiplayer online game with a few MMO features'

That's what i thought to o.o" I know the term MMO only to describe a game that can't be played offline or focuses totally arround online mode (i. e.: phantasy star games usually have an offline mode, but nobody buys them because of that). All other games are just...well...videogames with an online feature I guess?
