Driver help it says i cant play

OK, so i want to play and right before opening it tells me my display driver wont work so i cant play. so, is there any way i can modify it's settings? I also know it's outdated by a bit but i cant find an update thing that will update it without having to pay. i also have an auto update that wont download. oh, my driver is NVIDIA if that helps if you need my current update number then u'll have to tell me how to find it THANKS!
