Some food for thought.
Tell me if I violate any forum rules by discussing what is essentially RMT, but I don't see it prohibited under http://www.cosmicbreakfanforum.com/t5373-forum-rules so I'm going to just go ahead.
Unlike other games, there is no legally sanctioned market system to mediate the conversion between in-game currency and "real money" currency in CB.
The following figures places emphasis on current market prices for generics, but 10,000 UC each seems to be a good baseline.
UC = Generic = Rt = USD
One set of Aludra is 10 discs per 100 Rt
Each disc provides 4 Generics * 10 = 40 Generics (Cost of Superior not included)
Market Value for one Generic is 10,000 UC
(this is obviously going to be the gray area because of a lack of proper market)
400,000 UC = 40 Generics = 100 Rt = 10 USD
4,000 = 1 Rt = 0.10 USD
Based off the following figures, with USD as the linchpin this time, wouldn't it be reasonable for UC players to offer 1.2m UC or 120 generics for 30 USD's worth of Rt (as in, monthly premium plans from richer players, although they may argue on grounds that it is 600 Rt worth of goods, so negotiations may be necessary).
A player mediated UC/Rt market would be motivation for those who do not have any Rt options at all.
Admittedly, I have no idea how that would happen apart from entirely private transactions among "trusted" people to keep fraud to a minimum.
