You guys are fully sick...

isnt funny when some eroges are like a sfw VN but with barely adapted ero scenes that make look like they only added ero content for more sells, and it barely goes with the main story?

I dont know eroges/Vn but from doujin songs, i usually check doujinstyle for that matter, there threads of 4 chan in /JP/ with sites to this sort of music, altough lately, they becaming bit scarse

That's pretty much how I interpreted it.

I kind of classify is this way
Visual Novel: A small novel, where there are graphical images which support the story. May have additional options to 'alter' the storyline.
(sub) Galge: Dating Sim (Tons of options, try and 'capture' her heart?)
(sub) Eroge: 18+ Hentai Game (probably mixed with Galge sometimes, try and 'get in her pants' instead)

In terms of VN's that I have read:
F/SN: almost everyone who reads visual novels probably have read this. Good Stuff.
Saya: this is more of a Horror/Gore-ish story. I found it fun to read, even if I'm really bad with horror content

In terms of anime that can explain galge/eroge, and most definately amusing, I recommend:
1. My Little Sister Cant be this Cute
2. The World God Only Knows

I found them super entertaining... so I'll post this here instead of the anime/manga thread existing somewhere else in this this forum as its related.

That's pretty much how I interpreted it.

I kind of classify is this way

Adventure is the main genre it splits to:

Text adventure (no graphics at all, pure text based)
sub genre: interactive fiction

Graphic adventure game (or just adventure (ADV/AVG))
sub genres: NVL (visual novel), Point and click

Hybrid: Action-adventure (action game with adventure elements)

Westerners don't know the differnce between ADV games and NVL games, and they get used interchangably.
Visual novels the text covers the whole picture (e.g Fate/Stay Night)
Adventure games it's in a textbox at the bottom of the picture (e.g. Clannad)
That's the main differnece, VNs also never have any other interactivity besides multiple choice questions, ADV might have clicking locations on a map or minigames.

Bishoujo games split into:
Eroge (18+, PC only) can be used for non-18+ versions of the game as well
Galge (not 18+)

Dating sims are simulation games, not adventure.
They use character stats (which you can see), not multiple choice questions (they do use multiple choice questions to alter the stats!!) to control the plot.(e.g. Tokimeki Memorial, Love Plus, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona)
Confusingly they're not about dating (tend to end if you get the relationship that far), they should be called romance simulation games but the wrong name stuck.

I've played a few Visual Novels like... Utawarerumono, Fate stay night, Sono hanabira 1 and now currently playing 3.
Then there are some of the japanese mahjong ones i've played like elf all star and konboku mahjong was it... yep.
The best of them all has to be Sengoku Rance / Rance 7.

I personally noticed that many Westerners only play the VNs that have an English Patch...
I really feel sorry for other games that are arguably MUCH better than some of the English VNs, including F/SN or Tsukihime. (Well, this is in my opinion =x)

Also, not to make any assumptions, but I think a lot of people on VNDB are stuck-up weeaboos that are completely sex-crazy, and I draw this conclusion from of the criticisms and "rants" that was directed at me just because I was trying to edit something on the website, with the fact that they were flaming even more when I pointed out that most of them couldn't speak or even read Japanese, and were under 18.

I honestly hope no one is like them, since the above people really disgusted me enough to not contribute any of my screenshots or information to the VNDB. I only use that website to get summaries for VNs I'm going to try.

Last thing: Please; buy the actual game if you liked it--I don't need to explain myself... The sex-crazed idiots above think it's okay to just "steal" these works, but let's not fall low-down like them, shall we? I personally have a few games from my very favorite companies, and I really hope my contribution encourages them to make more games.

I'm also thinking of making translation patches, so feel free to contact me if you can crack the text files of these games =)

I beg to differ; my extractor is very simple, but it extracts every single file I want, including CG, BGM, and OP Movies.
I don't mean to brag, but us Koreans can be really smart sometimes with these games.
Feel free to PM me if you want the extractor that badly, and there are no "Full Version" for this

Adventure is from "Colossal Cave Adventure" the 1976 PDP-10 (mainframe) game that started the genre.
Action-adventure is named after "Adventure" the Atari 2600 spinoff.

Visual novel is from Shizuku the first part of the LVNS*. It did the fulscreen of text over picture first, and the genre name isn't trademarked unlike Chunsoft's earlier Soundnovels.

*Leaf Visual Novel Series: Shizuku, Kizuato, and ToHeart (and later ToHeart 2 X-Rated). They're only called Leaf for their adult tiles, all ages ports are as Aquaplus.

Although it definitely is one of the best educational and inspiring visual novels i've ever played.

SHARIN NO KUNI (yay ty translators)

This game has the best, most epic, badass proganist ever.

He's freaking bad ass.

And the story is serious shit.

You can still get bad endings, which is required for 100% CG =3

to be exact, there's only 1 path, and one playthru finishes almost all of the story (the rest is found in the fandisk)

so what i meant is, lock in with a girl, and you can no longer get any ero for the rest.
