Not anymore. There's charts somewhere showing player decline if Suguri wants to magically show up from his super secret fortress with lots of green and a bigass sword lodged in it's core and post them. Making apps isn't an indicator of popularity, anyone can do it.

Of course it's crowded before an update. It's better to chose some random time that isn't influenced by events and external factors.
