| I was reading through the crap on commu today and ran across a post that recommended putting this game onto a RAMdisk to increase performance. I had previously considered making a SSD from some spare RAM, but had not yet considered using the RAM that is already in my system.
I played a few matches to see how much RAM CosmicBreak used on WinXP and it doesn't seem to exceed 1.5GB, so I'll be able to set up a 1.5GB RAMdisk for my Cyberstep folder and still have a little less than a GB left over while I'm playing.
So, my question to you people is, how many of you use a RAMdisk program for this game and is the performance increase that noticeable?

Oh, and I guess I'll leave these links here for those that are interested in this, but have not yet heard about the technology.
The official and free version of Dataram's RAMDisk program.

A tutorial I found for this program on PCWorld.

| I did once just to test, didn't make any difference in load times or freezing in arena. | |

| Alright Here are my results: In my main account, the lag between lobby-garage still remains, but, there was a small improvement between the garage and subgarage, because I'm not seeing blank squares
In arena it was just the same, spikes, freezings, same FPS, etc
In the sub account, the lag between lobby-garage was almost nonexistant, however, the arena performance was still the same
I'm wondering the results on another programs though

| Should list the cpu spec too.
Ramdisk wont help 1 bit if you run on a handheld calculator.

| RamDisk will help only to slow Hard Disk users... in other words it speed up "Hard Disk" access but the main issue is the server response.. then lag. No matther what PC is, you will lag...
- The first time you access the sub garage it will do a expensive request to the server.. after it, the data is in the cache and then the ram disk will work smooth.
- Arena is not cached on the localbox, then it have a lot of request to the server.
- Disabling Skins can reduce lag, just a bit (downloading enemies and team skins)

| Pretty sure that blank spaces are related to connection issues, not the users PC. | |

| OK, I can notice a moderate improvement, in my case. My HDD is a slow IDE model, so that is probably where I am gaining performance. (3GHZ P4, 4GRAM (but WinXP so only 3.5GRAM,) 7200RPM IDE HDD, Radeon AGP X1300 256)
I am able to enter and leave garage much quicker and the game starts itself and loads stages faster. Small freezes still happen when people join in arena, but the length of the freezes seem to be shorter (from freezing for about half a second to freezing about a quarter of a second.)
I plan to use the RAMdisk to play this game until I can afford an i5 or an i7. (A note to users of Ccleaner, though.. do not delete "unneccessary" type library files after installing the RAMdisk. Removing these makes your games unable to connect to the internet.)

| the last time i've use the ramdisk since last 2 decades ago when you boot to a diskette which include RAMDRIVE.SYS as a driver for DOS, and runs DOS application in a flash, but when it times to turn-off your PC, all of the files in your RAMDRIVE will be wipe out forever. but today's RAMDRIVE, not fully recommended for older machines less than 4GB RAM, it's unconvenient, but SSD is fast enough to run CB in a seconds compare to HDD that running CB takes a 30seconds or more than a minute, especially if your HDD's not fully defragmented for months.
but SSD is still prone to power outage, buy a better SSD with failsafe is enough like INTEL's SSD but cost a lot and need an alternative SSD which is failsafe from power outage.
