CB was running when I got that, so a few things might not be as they should, like the resolution.

Can't run full 15vs15 at a decent frame rate, which is the bare minimum that you should be able to run, so, 2.4GHz isn't enough to run CB anymore (it used to).

Sue me for being poor.

So it looks like 2.6GHz is the minimum to run CB today...
Thnx for the info
now we established the bottom line for CPU clock speed

anyone with i7-3610QM or similar?

I want to see how the quad-core perform at 2.3GHz with turbo-boost turned off.
Since we already established quad-core with 2.0GHz lag spikes
www.cosmicbreak.com/community/forum/topic/9878

I doubt that a 2.6 can run a full room still.
If anything, maybe a 3.0, but even then, it might become unable to in a matter of a couple of months. :/

Do you ever lag or experience spikes in FPS?

I noticed your CPU is sufficient but you only have 1 GB RAM

oh nvm, I noticed you are using XP instead of 7, so 1GB should be ok

The game runs fairly well on my current settings...but can give FPS issues when a lot starts happening at short range, especially if it involves alpha-strikers or melee-happy bots...lag doesn't happen all that often, but this modem isn't aging well, so I can't say how long that'll be the case....
Spend $20-30 and get yourself 4GB RAM man, that should solve all your lag issues.
Make sure the RAM is compatible with your Motherboard though

The Ghz infos ain't the best indicator.
A 2.0ghz could be better than a poor 3.0ghz CPU. The cores efficiency is more important.

Ya I just noticed the dude with 2.6GHz actually overclocked his CPU to run at 3.1GHz.

If you read
www.cosmicbreak.com/community/forum/topic/9878[/quote]
apparently better CPU architecture and CPU efficiency would not play as much of a role as CPU Clock speed would in CB

Quote :

AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ has 2 cores clocked at 3.0GHz, 1MB cache with CPU benchmark score of 1616
It was introduced in May 2006
while
AMD Phenom II X4 N930 has 4 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, 2MB cache with CPU benchmark score of 2446
It was introduced in May 2010

Theoretically the latter CPU should perform 1.5X better in a ideal situation, however in CB the 2 core clocked at 3.0GHz with less cache = absolutely 0 lag, and 4 cores clocked at 2.0GHz with more cache = frequent lag spikes in epoch

This would mean CB is not multi-threading friendly and you would perform better on CPU with higher clock speed with less cores, less cache, and less threading than a CPU with lower clock speed with more cores, more cache, and more threading.

If it helps, I have a 3Ghz dual-core overclocked up to 3.51Ghz and CB still lags in highly populated areas or when there's a shitton of stuff going on.

I like how the HUD not only increases the CPU load, but also lowers the frame rate regardless of the CPU load.

This is very confusing in the end.
Here's my laptop: AMD Athlon X2 1.9 GHz QL-60 Dual-Core Processor, 3 GB RAM
And it runs CB with LOTS and LOTS of lag. Kinda impossible to play.

If you really want my specs.

Core i5 @ 2.4GHz
AMD Radeon 6630M 1GB and Intel HD Graphics 2GB.
4GB DDR3 @ 667MHz

Ran fine, until UberStep screwed up the latency issue.

Core i7 @ 2.2gHz
Nvidia GeForce GT525M 2GB
8GB DDR3 (I don't know its speed).

Runs fine

Thnx guys, I added your inputs into the pool of data...

I just ran CB on 2 laptops again to compare:

1st Laptop
AMD Phenom II X4 N930 (quad-core 2.0GHz)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650
6GB

The weird thing about this CPU is that in idle state, the CPU is clocked at 800MHZ
When The CPU is strained in CB arena it spikes between 800MHz - 2.0GHz and never stay constant at 2.0GHz.
This may explain why I normally get 40-70FPS in arena but drops below 15FPS and freezes frequently
b/c somehow the CPU never runs at 100% and prefers to run cooler at 800MHz for some reason when CB is running.

2nd Laptop
AMD A8-4500m (quad-core 1.9GHz, max coreboost up to 2.9GHz)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7640G (onboard graphic)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7670M (discrete graphic)
8GB RAM

Although not the kind of performance I wanted.
15v15 full arena I stayed at 45-80FPS all the time, only rarely drops down to 30FPS for a fraction of a second sometimes in a huge crowd with everyone shooting/meleeing
Unlike the AMD Phenom II X4 N930, The CPU clock speed at rest is 1.4GHz. When CB is running, the CPU get coreboosted to stay constantly at 2.3GHz. Maybe this explains why there was no lag spike on this laptop.

I'm gonna make an educated guess:
If my AMD Phenom II X4 N930 was to run at 2.0GHz constantly during CB play, I can imagine 15v15 arena room to be constantly 40+ FPS instead of lag spiking every now and then in huge crowds.

I'm gonna change my system settings and force my acer laptop to run all 4 cores at 2.0GHz at all times (even in idle state) later tonight and see how it would affect my CB performance

Why are u sucha noob I know its in your name but please stop being one.

ONE NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER NAME.

2 JESUS CHRIST Is your rig a dinosaur 90% cpu usage damn near on CB.

I run at 30% on my intel core 2 quad.

3 CB uses more cpu usage cause its java based it wont use you gpu power really.
