PostSubject: Should I upgrade my pc or flat out buy a new one   Should I upgrade my pc or flat out buy a new one EmptyThu Aug 02, 2012 7:36 pm

upgradeing it will cost under 400 bucks

Lets see first off my gpu is way outdated I had a geforce 9400 gt since 2010 that died and was outdated, And Now I am useing a g force 7600 gs with a buggy ass fan (its from 07 dit not keep fan clean either).

So need a new gpu plan on getting this one so I wont have to buy a new power source thankfully it stays cool.

http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-ENGTX550-TI-DC-1GD5/dp/B004RJJN9Y/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343100593&sr=1-9&keywords=GeForce+GTX+460

My mouse is slowly dieng

Plan on getting a tron razer gaming mouse for
$37.99 cause it looks cool and i need a new one.

Plan on upgrade my proccesor from dual core to quad core not really needed since i3 and i5 are dual core but just have dual threading so dual cores arent outdated yet. cheapest quad I could find was a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor 2.5 GHz 4 MB Cache Socket LGA775 for 155. Can not use any of the I series in my computer. Boards a NVIDIA MCP73 does not support quad core. Also my fans good for a Q8300 large but quit.

That comes around to 325 max

If I do have to buy a power source theres this most likely i wont.

Fuck gona need that power supply that explains why my 9400 burned out weak power supply.

That will cost more If I was going to build a new one it make no since not to get the highest tier I can get.

a 3.7 ghz i7 the most powerful one out of the current cost 375 bucks new alone. A i5 quad core is no a upgrade much since its just a less power consuming quad core, Tho it maxes at 3.5 ghz instead of 3.1 ghz but cost less and require a new core miswell get a i7 tho, Since only the i7 quad cores have dual threading and expensive as they are misewell get the best.

Oh and the current top ati graphics card cost 400 bucks the least but I am at least gona need two of em to dual card so thats 800 thats already 1200+bucks for a gpu and processor alone so getting everything would cost 2500-3000 bucks for a top line pc apposed to 325 to improve a low tier system into mid tier status. And my computers screen max res is 1360 by 900 so i can run all games on high with those few upgrades. Shouldnt of really even put the options for build a new one there its kinda obvious save up and just improve my current rig.

Upgrading from double to quad is how much?

I said that a processor is just a want, power source and mouse are first 2 things I am buying. Then gpu the processor, I really dont ever see the days when a quad core runs at 100% even my dual core which is a fairly standard one ran on 75% core usage on crisis 2 beta when i had my geforce 9400.

First off lets basically screw BT with his minsinformation
i5 have a quad core version , yes an actual quad core
3470 S and above ALL have 4 cores , seriously? Dual core without threading? and you say its not outdated?
You are better off with some other mouse rather than razer tron , it have 2 useless button that you will never touch due to how flat the thing is how you have to press them with your ring finger

I said the lower end i5 are dual core with dual threading.

And higher end i5 are quad core but no dual threading unless they made a newer i5 with quad cores and dual threading.

And shame about the mouse what a good one for under 40 under 50 if its a must.

Kk changeing mouse to Corsair Vengeance M60 or the Razer Abyssus High Precision Optical Gaming Mouse

Spend $100 or less on replacing your gaming mouse and a power supply.
Spend $300 on used 7970 3GB(will make you happy for years).
$400(or less) well spent!

P.S. Btw, Q8300 is really outdated. Even dual core i3 destroy it in any benchmark.

Hmm then what
Lga775 type processor should I ge 0.o thats under 300

7970 is 2 big for mid towers dude gona go up to the geofrce 560 ti tho instead of 550 ti. Actually holy fucking shit that thing is huge probly need a big ass case for it.. Why are graphics cards getting so big D= I already cant take my big ass of a block mid tower anywere cant fit in duffle bags or small suit cases. And takes a shit ton of space in the large sized ones. I dont wana have to buy a giant ass tower qq.

If you're not too picky about the performance and graphics quality, A new computer that is $800-$1000 should last you 5 years without the need of an upgrade. At this price range, you should be able to play most mainstream games at an acceptable resolution and graphics quality.

I suggest prioritizing more on the Graphics Card and RAM and your CPU doesn't need to be as powerful because games require more graphics processing than central processing.

For your CPU, I recommend Core i3 or i5.
RAM, at 4-6GB DDR3-1333 or faster.
Graphics, go mid-range.
