Rarely lag over here and I am at least 8,000+ miles away from the server XD

well no wonder my shots keep hitting but not counting. thats the damn ping i get to a EUROPEAN SERVER

American shouldn't go higher then 150. infact I play on the american starcraft 2 server and the ping is only 120.

afaik, Australia uses the same cables with Singapore (and the rest of southeast asia as well), which is the one going across pacific straight to the US. so any difference would be the connection between the respective isp to the trans-pacific hub, which is iirc somewhere around Japan. notice how his 5 jumps revolves just around singnet.com.sg.

I still don't get the point of this, since it's pinging the korean DNS server for the website domain, not the actual game server, which sits in US.

The US server is in San Jose so if you use the San Jose ping for Lord Shade you get

if you want to ping test for US server it is probably from or through LA cause the LA server as a route for internet in general is one of the largest.

You should move the map around til you reach the West coast of the USA and click LA.

Seems to explain why I sometimes lag.

I got a ping of 78 which definitely explains the lag compared to how when i ping their direct Korean place it gives me 48 which should be super fast...

You know, the more I look into this, the more confused I get.

As we all know, the website IP is Korean (211.*.*.*). Does that mean the website sits in Korea? Possibly, the website does not necessarily have to sit with the game server and it would be easier to simply host their site with their existing web host. Is there a possibility that the website actually sits in US? Definitely, there's always server/client-side redirection, ping/tracert does not reflect that.

Now, the actual game server. So after remembering that I have NetLimiter and is able to pick up the port/ip connection my applications are using, I tried it out with CB. Surprisingly, it is still a 211.*.*.* IP! Now unlike the matter with websites, there is no redirection with game data upstream. If the client is connected through that port to that IP, the data WILL go there. It could be a proxy or some other sort of portal that redirects the game data to a server at another location, but even then, the data WILL have to reach the server located at that korean IP THEN be transferred off, which will only serve to lengthen the delay.

At the same time, I highly doubt Tempura would've lied about the server location.

Sooo... I dunno.

I recall somewhere a while ago I read that Tempura said yes, the servers were in CA. However, because of some messed up thing, the servers do have a KR reroute or something like that. Like they get fastforwarded to KR back to CA..or something.. Don't quote me on this, but this happened before.
