How do you kill that Jack in Star? Why only 31 experience?

When ever I ask people what's best way to get experience level, they say do missions or quest, so I did starduster. 3 of my allies couldn't even damage Jack at the end. I was only able to damage him 10% with sheer luck. How the hell do you kill this guy?
People said aim for the head and I tried that to no avail.

Only 31 experience for my guys? How the heck am i suppose to get 25,000 experience points for my guys' next level up?

Go to arena for lvling.

There are pillars on each side that you can access by jumping on other objects.

Get to the top of these, and hit him in the head.

Yes, this means that you will need to be mobile to accomplish this, as he moves around a lot.

Once you do enough damage his mask/patch/hat falls off and you can now inflict damage to him, but he starts putting barriers up to reduce your ability to chase him around so much. Learn the time it takes between them starting and ending and they won't be as problematic.

You want better advise? Put out the $ for an Aquila... his core can kill the SOB by going right up below him in his hole and firing up through his body.

You can actually jump inside his body. You will end up standing on the ledge where he comes out. Just fire straight up and it's gonna damage him. Better to jump up so each blaster shot will hit the area for a higher accumulated damage. The more blaster shots that hit a target the bigger the damage; That's why they're strong on big targets and up close.

I kill him the old fashioned way... Crimrose with a Beam Rifle. Make sure you're up on ledges and pillars to hit the head without the body getting in the way. Crim isn't an absolute necessity... I have killed him with a Cannonball once (it was right down to the wire, though). A Cannonball win takes skill in the caliber of the old Contra games. Be fancy, be accuratewith your jumps, and never get hit.

Hop over his head and mach bomber him. It was proven to be able to nail his ass before he could pull it back in his hole.

no need... just get your lock on his head and shoot from any side you want... beam rifle and negatrons piercing almost everything but your target and obstacle

I still haven't returned to trying to kill him since that time when 2 of my allies didn't even know how to kill him ~_~

I have beaten that mission once with pros though.
