| So it has been like 2 months of nothing from CS (at least i havent seen) about the Europe server so i decided to go to a quick google search whichi lead me to IDC/Games who are going to publish EU version.
My first concern is i have never heard of IDC/Games and any of the games they are publishing beside Ragnarok and i didnt know they published it. Have anyone ever played the games they publish? What type of publisher are they? Money hungry, cash shop milkers or they make the games fair for everyone? The one good think i saw is that they are bringing the game to Steam which can go either way. My next concern is the live span on the EU server. Considering that even the CS EU server didnt last long (thank god they allowed EU to play on NA) If it were for the server to fail would they even do accounts transfer since they CS do not publish EU version. Not to mention the update gaps, since the EU version is going to go in CBT soon.
I wonder how many people from EU even knew about who is going to plublish the version, or gave up on the game completely when CS suddently said "hey IP blocks for anyone outside NA, even for people that pre-registered before that"

| CBeu's "life" span was so bad, because of the laughable delay between the openbeta and official service (2 years iirc?!). They employed clueless GMs and released content in a somewhat unhappy order - and then there were all dem evil people from US who liked pubstomping (okay that's the majority of the playerbase but whatever l0l). I'd guess all of that is less likely to happen with CL.
I wouldn't have heard abt the EU version, if I didn't google it. I don't get CS anymore. They make that shitty IP block system, ban people for lagging, but fail to provide informations abt alternative servers. That's odd. Oh well, will probably ignore it until I see a german TV spot or something~~~

| Considering that the EU version will be on Steam could probably increase its lifespan. However its still unknown if the steam will have region locks for outside europe. Because if it doesnt and everyone can connact it will be really silly compared to the NA version (considering CB1 and Onigiri are considered US games by their installers) | |

| If people don't have to use VPN's to play and it opens up it's servers worldwide it's going to be better in all honesty because then the players won't lag as terribly as they did in the EN version. - Zwiebel Force wrote:

CLeu is being hosted by a different company that's not CS - IDCgames. I don't know whether I'll fuck off of the server or join with a clean slate (ie: try not to piss off half of the population by using the most retarded bots against actual new people). I might give it a shot regardless depending on how bad I lag, since if I lag too bad I'll just stick to the NA version.

| Unless steam release helps with the population, i dont see the server even last half a year considering CS said absolutely nothing who will publish the EU version. | |

| Just becuse they don't host the server themself doesn't mean they can't tell people something like, idk, "hey look, our affiliates at IDC games are now starting the CLeu beta" or some shit. The only thing I really understood (until I was looking it up myself) was that if I wanted to play CL, I had to turn on a VPN and cover myself in 200+ ping. | |

Except you don't. You only need the VPN to DL and update the client, you don't need it to play it, and once updated the launcher won't prevent you from launching the game either. But yeah, CBEU wasn't that great, but then, the CB community being as shit as they are didn't help. It wasn't fun to go into beta and see people pubstomping and lagging like retards, any, actual, new player would most likely fuck the hell out of there at that sight. I certainly didn't bother. Why bother dealing with shit if I can just deal with the same shit but with an account with enough crap to set me in for a while anyway. The whole process was unfortunate, and this time around CS tried to prevent it with an IP block, too bad the way they employ it is crap and their launch dates are still too set apart.

Nothing they can do, outside of coding a latency restriction, will help prevent lagging. Since the game uses manual-lock targeting and any lag spike will drop a target lock, that will be a major issue. On top of that, the net code for CL makes slightly-latent people jitter and wobble about like Michael J. Fox on an espresso binge. I played against people in CL that did not noticeably lag in CB and their CL-lag was downright unbearable. Droves of ex-CLEN players are going to flock to this game, VPN or no VPN, which means that, to the native CLEU audience, the game will be filled with unhittable/untargetable laggers from the first day. CL is a really fun game, but without a latency restriction, better net code or another good idea to deal with laggers, the game is already a failure before it even launches. ----- I think a really good idea would be how Mechwarrior Online handles international players: They have one client for all of them.. and matchmaking connects people to three different game server hubs; one is in the US, one is in Europe and one is in the SEA region. Splitting the game into individual region-locked clients that launch several months apart is a terrible move that increases the occurrence of laggers. (On top of that the net code for MWO is way superior to anything CS has ever dreamed up. I played a few matches on the SEA server, to see what it was like. With a ping of 250, I had no issues hitting people or being hit by them. CS just has a bad business model that throws most of its money into art design and never gives the net code the attention and resources that it so desperately needs.)

Wait wasnt an IP block supposed to prevent you to join the game servers? And yet you only need VPN for updating and downloading. I guess CS cant even do a proper IP block. The only saving grace for CS EU is the hope of steam to bring more players than the ones that are clueless who will publish for EU and the others which gave up on the game when CS suddently put IP blocks.

| I'm not sure if you're saying that because of what went down in CLus or just because the game itself probably won't be successful, but either way it's most likely I won't even bother anyways; Even if I did join it wouldn't be for very long, mostly just to see how things are going. Outside of that, by the time it launches I'll be busy getting my visa, passport and other things I'll need going to Vietnam and I won't have as much time to play much of anything. | |

Iirc EU's prices were the same??? The same as a number, not the same in value. At least it wasn't EA level of bullshit. Back when they did the 50% sale, Sims 3 expansions with the discount still costed more in EU than in the US without the discount, because they won't lower the prices and sell the expansions at full game price (meanwhile the code cards on shops sell at a lower price than EA's shop, go figure).
