I was chatting, today, with others that noticed the same thing.

We're two weeks in and 1-1 is already below, "busy," status.

For the first three days, 1-1 was either, "busy," or, "full."

Now, it's just, "populated."

Also, of note are CB's and CL's launch population numbers. CB was around 1,000.. AFAIK, CL has hovered between 200-400.

I love the core game.. I love the new paint editor.. but this game is failing faster than CB after Resheris arrived.

(I still refuse to do any offers until I decide whether I'm staying.. or not.)

Yes i think the same, i will play a few days to january expecting to see if something changes

i wonder why it didnt got enough people at the launch, because their kickstarter campaign gathered a lot of interested people and they actually accomplished a lot of thing that they promised, also cb launch had a lot of people like you said, and before the launch in the few months of the beta there were even more people

it didn't had much content so it is comparable to what cb2 is right now
(that kills the argument of some people that say that there is nothing to do in game right now, at cb launch was the same)

The fact that it's still ONLY PvP with RANDOMIZED matches and the fact that you LOSE rank points if you do bad are probably the main deterrents.

Br dunno, but Jp isn't faring much better. Which is what making me question their ulterior motives of releasing multiple different language version over the world in rapid manner. It seems like what they did with old cb which is bound to fail like what already happened.

Thoughts/speculations on CB2's possible failings.

1. MM is auto, you don't see who you are going to be matched with until too late, rooms are generally small, averaging 3-4 players a team. All these heavily reduce the social aspect people have come to expect from CB1, and due to the amount of NPC (and their resilience), game feels largely like a vs AI game a lot of the time.

2. Due to smaller sized room, bullshit (eg. Ragna) are far more blatant and harder to handle/counter compare to bullshit from CB1.

3. Game lacks variety compare to CB1 even at its conception. Weapons are mostly just grade variants of each other, even those that are different don't feel all that different (eg. beam gun vs beam machinegun vs beam gatling), choices and customizations feel irrelevant. All this is obviously done for the sake of balancing the game, but clearly it's gone too far and the game is severely watered down compared to its fallen predecessor.

4. Bot roles (minus Ragna) are clearly defined and restricted, winning and losing a fight/skirmish are usually decided on the outset by your bot type, this takes away a lot of the excitement and thrills, forcing it down a kill or be killed counter or be countered scenario.

5. Lack of good fun PvE that can keep people interested from the onset. Quests and Arcantus, despite actually being shallow in content, did offer enough in the beginning of CB1 to keep people interested and gave the illusion of actual MMO-style content, and they kept players busy with them for quite some time. There's none of that in CB2 beyond Hunting/Haunted, and neither have any real depth or longevity.

6. Fuck melee.

the main issue for me is the room size, so many matches were just 2v2 for me that I didn't even want to play for extended periods of time. I'd happily wait longer if it meant getting more people in my matches.

I know others would constantly get re-matched with the same person over and over again for 3-4 matches in a row, in these small 2v2 rooms, while other people always got 5v5 rooms.

This was during the first week of play. It really just seems like a very poor matchmaking algorithm rather than a problem of population or it being matchmaking itself.

I don't really have a problem with the game being about countering something. The idea of CB2 seemed to be more about thinking more about what you are doing rather than just rushing in and trying to bash your head through the enemy. I think it's a good change to encourage people to actually think about retreating and picking better fights rather than just an endless meat grinder. There's certainly a problem with weapon variety.

1 Playing bots instead of players so much can get the game dropped fast they should have never added bots.

2 Cb2 runs on less cystem there was not a pc around that could not run cb2 decently. On low cb2 can run on gen 2-3 direct x9 graphics cards and 1s gen dual cores but with extremely low frame rates so all those cb1 players leave. People who have rigs that can run cb2 well and maxed have a much huger choice of other games to play.

3 Match Making cb1 had a fantastic lobby system it would be dead now with out it they really should have kept it. Cb2 did not make it consoles so their is no reason for this console style match making.

4 The auto targeting while it is a huge improvement it turns people off it makes the game feel like it takes less skill.

5 The fact you start with moe bots and crappy hunky derp looking units for a while till you can get cool look stuff kinda sucks.

I don't have an issue with some of what I described, after all, this is a different game, expecting a balanced CB1 would be somewhat unrealistic. Game is now focused on positioning and more reliant on teamplay than ever, which is certainly a positive compare to old days of 1-2 carries carrying their witless team on their back, but point remains that the game is now a lot less thrilling, engaging and exciting for a lot of the players I'd imagine, which in turn would affect its population and player retention.

But of course, all that teamplay/positioning reliance is completely pointless when you team consist only of 1-2 other human players on average whilst rest are just a bunch of dumb AIs (except that Pacifar/Sword Wing AI on the opposing team who will hunt you to the end of the earth).

I found I can play saggi max the same as i did in early cb1. Zero saber can play aggressive. I even took out a ragna solo with saggi only taking 100 damage he can really wreck shit at s rank with the sphere to increase attack.

On the other end of the spectrum, what they've done to make each bot unique and interesting by giving them each an unique gimmick, be it core weapon or shift action, is really good, I do not understand why they'd do that yet water down the handheld weapon variety so much. Sure, maybe they want to put more emphasis on the units themselves rather than the customization you do on them, but watering down customization to such a degree is most certainly no way to go, especially in a self-touted "MMO", and a mech game on top of that.

I like cosmic league's skinning system however, I just think the game itself is confusing. In CB1 its much more easy and simple.

Ofc CB had 1000+ players from ALL over the world,
while CL only had about 200-400 from US mostly, a few only who use VPN.

So I blame IP-Block x':

Match making is what needs to change other than that leave the game alone.

CB1 had a larger market pool you had all the people who played cb1 jp, all the people from exteel shutdown etc. Just wait and see if cosmic break 2 grows.

i dont see it as a problem since....

~ 1 specific match = 1 energy drink EASY in this game
and those drinks can be obtained via login etc, and using em you get free crap just by playing the game alrdy... tbh its not rlly much of a problem since we get free refills and exchanges for em so easily and they are spammable

I've only done probably 3-4 hours straight of matching in a single session, but I've yet to run out of endurance on a bot. Hasn't been an issue at all so far.
