Suisei No Gargantia

Another neat Mecha/Alien War anime that I found out about. So far it's okay at best, but I have only seen a few episodes so far.

It's called "Suisei No Gargantia" or "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" in English.



Gargantia takes place in a distant future where humans have ventured far into the vast universe, and have colonized many other worlds, and have formed a space alliance known as "The Galactic Alliance of Humankind." Sometime during their space exploration, they cross paths with a Space-Faring Humanoid Mollusk/Plant Alien Race known as "The Hideauze," or less formerly as "The Whale Squids." The Hideauze turn out to be hostile, and declare war upon the Galactic Alliance. Humans fight back with their own space fleet, and these flying Mech-Suits called "Machine Calibers" which can operate with a pilot, or on their own using an advanced AI System.

Ledo, the protagonist, is a teenage Galactic Alliance pilot, who has his own advanced Machine Caliber called "Chamber." He is first sent out on a mission to take out a Hideauze Super Weapon, but the mission fails horribly and Ledo and Chamber get sucked into a Wormhole. Six months later, Ledo awakens, as Chamber helped nurse him back to health and recover from his injuries after the attack. He and Chamber awaken on another planet, on a boat full of Human Marauders. Turns out, this planet happens to be Earth, which Ledo never even knew existed since he was born on another colonized world and never visited Earth before. Ledo and Chamber now must find a way to get things back into shape, reunite with the rest of the Galactic Fleet, and stop the Hideauze's attacks before it's too late.
