sphere is added which literally enhances your robo by attaching it into your robo core (pretty much like core tune)
the number of times you can install depends on your robo grade
by using materials you find via leagues and uc garapon.

you use it to raise that stat
and you can pick any one freely

these are the following you can pick
 Armor
 Main Weapon
 Sub Weapon
 And running speed
 -Flight speed
 Jump speed
 Boost capacity
 Boost recovery
 Dash efficiency
  Flight efficiency
 Jump efficiency

and its strength also depends on the difficulty and it can also downgrade other stats
new sphere materials will be added in league
and support items to make sphere will be added in shop

About time they found uses for those tuning mats. I have literally nearly 200 of every mat at this point.

I was disappointed to find that out as well as the fact that the current only way to get them is through Rt. Also just like the CB1 tuning system they have a chance of failure. Rip.

EDIT: Although they give you a shiny golden orb upon logging in now that allows you to do seemingly infinite tunes. I've done 4 already and it still hasn't gone away.

The fact that tunes gives now a small bonus is good because we will no longer be able to do niche bots featuring the equivalence of the old 40 Fly 40 Tech ones, making them annoying as fuck to encounter and pushing hard the pay2win gate. You'll "color" your strategy by picking a bot and giving it small tweaks.

It should be fine if CB2 doesn't feature powercreep (yea ok that's a tcg word but it really feel like that) when they constantly add new version of a bot which is stronger than previous one or just big chunk of opness (oh, CB EVE release, I never forgot you).

Not so optimistic about that last part, but the more than decent starters given help to believe. This much needed step could really push the game forward on Europe/Murica where LoL is the master due to balance.

Besides that, with each grade robots get +3 more tuning slots which can REALLY add up fast if you have a lot of tuning mats to work with.

(ie: on an S rank bot with tier III tunes you can get a bonus of, say, +12% attack damage)

Main issue, can you still break the slots? Cuz would be shameful to change the whole bot.

You have no idea how it works l0l I'll make a guide.

Just gonna say no you don't break slots because slots are impossible to break. You now create "stat orbs" where you can just easily insert/remove them from bot to bot depending on where you want them. The only thing is you have a chance of failing to make said status orb, in which case all you do is lose mats.

Actually, that 12% is not more damage, it's more of average damage "balance", a.k.a the higher it is, the better your weapon will dealt damage of it's full capabilities. It does improve your general damage output since you be dealing near the max damage of that weapon's capability but it won't raise your "max" damage. (imo, max damage is only accessible through ranking up .-.). Currently other then panzer's melee or fortress/saggi type single hard hitting range attack, you really wouldn't mind the fluctuation. Even if it's 10-20% difference. Due to the general lower damage.
But don't forget though, you'll be sacrificing other stats when you tune (like those beta/alpha tunes of cb). Some are critical, like movement speed, boost capabilities etc. Which even minor bits also affects a lot.

That's... fabulous.

Now CB just need to release balanced and various style bots and this game can get really, really serious.

Why aren't you joining that instead of hoping the mechanics from CB2 migrate into CB1? You do realize they're just about two entirely separate games, right?
