| I keep putting off doing this 1400 word assignment about the social position of Japanese women compared to western women, I've only got like 280 introduction so far. It's due Wednesday though, but I have like 2 tests this week.
at least I got to hang out with my girlfriend yesterday, even if most of the time I was helping check or English related stuff.

| 1400 word assignment, man you got it easy... I remembered just a year or two ago when I haven't graduated, there were stuff like 1. A 50-page assignment about cardiovascular diseases, fail to satisfy the teacher and it's doubled, fail again and it's doubled again and now you must write it by hand, time limit is two weeks
2. 100+ pages of handwritten Biology stuff, fail to satisfy the teacher and you must repeat it all over again in a new book, and the cover must be plain purple, with clear cover over it, and a stick-on nametag, there are a lot of pictures here and there, and those must be hand-drawn, and if your font is bad (or whatever you call what handwritten text looks like), you must, again, repeat, time limit is three weeks
3. 15+ pages of university summaries, typed, with pamphlets from the university taped, stuck, or stapled in there, this is bearable, unless you got lazy schoolmates, which prompted a raid on the school, and anyone caught doing other people's work or are paying other people to do theirs are made to do it by hand, time limit is originally four weeks minus tests in the middle of that, people who cheats are given three days

Um reality. Ran a few routes I ran back when I was 13 and they were astonishingly short and easier to run then my current running routes. Things get easier as you get older.

what where you even doing? you a doctor or something? Nope, all of those are senior high assignments, Biology was still a compulsory at first grade, cardiovascular assignment was for P.E., and the university one was compulsory for all student, by the way, those are special assignments, I'll list some of the normal one Geography : Credits were taken from notes, so notes are compulsory, usually about 10 pages each week Math : About 30 questions twice a week Chinese : A compulsory that has three sessions a week, each sessions gives either a two page quiz composed of anything from translations to conversations, and writing Chinese characters, six times each for a one character word, from a collection of at least 35 words minimum, twice a week Citizenship : A 45 multiple question + 10 essay questions each week, time limit is just three days usually there are many more, and while it seems normal when you just look at each of them by their lonesome, but try combining them together each week, and add some of the special assignments, there were students that fainted at school out of overworking...

| I been meaning to ask why does Iron like Japanese culture so much its weird. A girl who teaches English to 2nd graders that I know who trains at my mma gym is moving back here with a guy named Toru she got engaged to during her time there. Part of this is because mma training in japan sucks and the other part is Toru simply doesn't like it in japan. Idk maybe it is because for 1 I am black and for 2 I have a open and expressive some what rebellious attitude that would not last a second in japan. To me as a outsider their cultural system seems outdated. The whole your actions are a part of a whole community thing and if you do bad you shame your entire family, being a omega to said rules to society I just could never deal with something like that. Hell Japanese people even want change animes like terror in resonance is a perfect example of a subliminal highlight of the generational gap. Maybe you guys can help but aside from food I just really don't see whats good about Japanese culture. Most of the things I like from japan are none cultural things such as how Asian woman look, and a decent amount of anime, and the overall design of the country especially the various mountains you can traverse.
Again for the record my ideology of being completely independent really conflicts with most Asian customs. For instance when ever Nanci describes how her sister tells her to do something my first thought is I would probably tell my sibling to jump off a bride if they tried being remotely controlling with me. Also I don;t get how doing bad on a report card would be a whole families fault and make some one shame their family shit like that just urks the hell out of me a human beings actions belong to them and them alone.

| Well first and foremost you have to remember that "order, honor, and success" are a BIG ass deal to allot of traditional/old custom Asian families. The only reason I even get treated the way I do with my siblings is because they grew up that way, If they didn't get A"s they'd get beat, if they didn't cook at the age of fucking 5-6 they'd get beat. so i'm gonna have to grow up that way. My mother and father age's ago were VERY traditional, my siblings growing up would one day have to have an arranged marriage, because "it's fucking culture and you can't do shit about it" but I think, you can only take so much until you blow the fuck up. A couple years ago maybe like 5-7 years ago when I moved to Georgia, my mom and dad wanted to be closer to relatives, he quit his job as a orthodontist and moved down. So as years kind of passed by and my siblings were starting to communicate, more with others I guess they like just wanted freedom and started rebelling. My siblings were never able to go out or have fun, so I guess that's a lack of socializing with others. I probably got off topic but, I hope it could at least sort of relate to whatever you were talking about. My sisters "Secretly" had boyfriends so when my dad found out about it, they had a force marriage. Which is why they are allot more strict on me in those terms. I don't know how to fucking explain it.

| nothing you can do about it really, at least 3 people in my family have gotten a force marriage lmao. but it all turned out pretty bad, the most decent out of our family was my oldest brother, who went to law school and became a cop. He got married to a Vietnamese girl, which my mom and dad ages ago weren't happy because, Vietnamese people killed our people l0l but whatever. Traditional cultures in america really fuck people up, I guess. I think for me and my siblings, the saddest part about growing up the way we did, was probably that we never got to have a childhood like the people around us did. | |

| I don't understand why I'm interested so much, but I wouldn't say I'm creepy about it. keep in mind I've changed a lot since first coming here.
What you's are describing isn't really what Japan is today, even in the 90's and I think 80's Japanese women could refuse an arranged marriage, I think generally they still go to omiai just for parents sake. Marriage carries quite different values to the west in Japan, raising of a family is also quite different.
What Nancy(right?) is describing sounds more like China or perhaps a south Asian family (I haven't really studied countries down that way much). Study stress is still an issue in Japan however children don't do as much as they did back in the 90's, still much harder on them than in the west.
Honestly though, if you have read the things I have you might not be so hugely opposed to arranged marriage, its way less stressful and builds a relationship based on financial security instead of love. when love breaks down in a marriage its over, rough on any children, rough on everyone and your fiances. who's to say you don't fall in love during this arrangement.
Japanese culture is deep and complex, much more interesting than my own which only has 200 years or so and they try to install white guilt on us for it. Besides that I study Chinese society and culture as well, if my university had a course for Korean society and culture you can damn well bet i'd be all over that.
