Vanessa - best of both worlds?

She and Sylvia are the latest in a series of melee LNDs that I have virtually no use for, and I've had enough. I'll be tuning her up, and I need a plan.

Spoiler:

Will this thing work as intended, or will I end up using her melee exclusively? Her analyze shot is pretty decent after the interval upgrade, and her blade shot (which I assume runs off of TEC) looks like it has the same hideous vertical coverage as Trizelion's slash.

I should probably ditch the Beasts for Blast Guard too. I also realize that she gets CV when she's doing what she ought to do, which is to tunnel zeroes, so it might be a good idea to replace the CVs with Clearance too.

CAV, Wataboutmi, FinalSpark, and others recommend melee path.

I don't see why you need CVeil.

Keep in mind that this was before her inherent buffs, too, so she gained more capacity among other things.

I wasn't so sure about lacking CV with all of 6 TGH, but then Vanessa is supposed to go after single targets and she'll probably do fine without. Clearance it is, then. I can take Blast Guard and still keep at 600HP with Clearance, too.

For route though, I'm still urged to give the sword slash a chance. I don't like the guard, I don't like the stunning analyze shot, and I don't think I'll really miss the melee analyze capability.

Gunner Vanessa is annoying because you still have to use the gat/blade slash to put the enemy under hacking status THEN get close to the enemy and use hacking blade THEN run away and try to put some distance between you and the enemy so that you won't get your face pounded it and shoot at the enemy with your (ok I suppose?) buffed blade shots.
