| In all likelyhood, it's the mode that was just implamented in the Japanese version; i.e., you get a preset lineup of 'bots based on what difficulty you choose and go through one of the ingame missions...no rewards as far as I know...just something to pass the time.... | |

| Um... It is SINGLE PLAYER, not OFFLINE MODE!YOU CAN'T PLAY IT IF YOU ARE OFFLINE BECAUSE THE LAUNCHER WILL TELL YOU IT CAN NOT CONNECT TO SERVER AND NOT LET YOU LAUNCH THE GAME OR EVEN THE MAP EDITOR!!!! So yeah... it is only a temporary distraction from when you have the game launched and servers are down. Otherwise, you are S.O.L. for your Cosmic Break fix. | |

| I sent Tempura a PM regarding the issue, so we'll see how they go about addressing it. - Kasane_Teto wrote:

so wats interesting about it single player? can we get any mechs we want on there? 1) No, it is online currently as you need to be online to access the login screen where you access the button to launch single player mode. (at least until they address the issue sometime within the week, hopefully before we see our Final Beta, now that I've PMed Tempura to let him know) 2) It is more of a PREVIEW than a single player campaign mode in all honesty. You are only limited to the 3 bots for each of the two difficulty modes. They are already customized, and you can't access garage to change them in any way. So yeah, it is more of a way to feed the addicts when the servers are under maintenance. The bright side is you do not need to put in your account information or even have a registered account to play the single player mode. Yet, if you do get caught in game during maintenance, the game auto-shuts down. If you get disconnected because your internet goes down, it does the same, but now you can't even access the Stage Editor or Single Player Mode because the buttons you need to click to access them are grayed out. Really silly considering that all the data to play these modes has already been downloaded onto the player's computer, so not being able to access them is a serious, "WTH?" 3) No. Not yet anyway. Like I said, it is the first step for them. They do everything in a step-by-step progression. The thing is in tying in the Offline mode to the Online mode, they'd have to get better game security, as it would provide an opening for hackers to manipulate the data on the offline side to transfer to the servers. They'd have to devise a system otherwise to monitor the situation. Personally, it would be fine if Offline mode was pretty much the same game, just offline, not linked to our online accounts, and everything was UC, and we could access everything and just fool around to our hearts content on the offline mode, without it effecting anyone. They could even make the Garapon and limited bots a DL for the offline mode, so when you go into the game you can spend Rt on Garapon packs for offline mode, like $2 for each set, and these would fill out your offline mode Garapon, which would be like 10,000 UC a roll, or 50,000 UC for 5, so there is a seeming balance to offline mode, and get a few bucks into their pockets, without it effecting the online gameplay. Oh the ideas!

| They're going to move it inside the server update screen watch. And you'll still be able to play correctly even if you are unable to connect to the server. | |

This could be sidestepped by making the offline mode unlock things that hold no interest to hackers. Off the top of my head, single player mode could be used to unlock new missions, quest modes, Mates, and map items (anyone remember the map editor?) - ChaosOmni wrote:

That would be pretty sweet... Or an offline arena, where you can use some preset builds (with associated difficulty levels) in something like the Training Arena, but with more maps to choose from, or loading a map from the map editor. The most annoying thing about the map editor currently is that you have to load into the game, start an arena match and hope someone else wants to join it... And then if there's a bug, you have to log all the way out, then back into the updater to get to the editor. Needlessly, wastefully, mind numbingly tedious at the same time... They would have to go out of their way if they wanted to make map building more of a pain in the ass. It's that bad. That said, I'm a stupendous masochist and have some great maps made for when the feature goes to CBEN. Y'all will love them.

An offline arena would become pretty damn boring after a while once you master all of the preset tactics. That said, I hope you make a pitfall map. With tons and tons and tons of holes.

Yes, That would mean the Third "Mini" beta will be on the 16th, At 12 O Clock. Meaning that I will have to prepare myself for the incoming stormtroopers of useless BRD band wagons.
