I heard somewhere that starbound is going to be a roguelike - is that true?

Unless you have a very loose definition of roguelike (A lot of people nowadays do), I don't think that's the case. It's a lot like Terraria,  as OP said: Sandbox, open world and lots of items.

It looks like a pretty fun little game.

Shame - it would've been nice having Starbound as a roguelike, but I guess that's what hard difficulty's for. That, and a lot of people would've hated starting everything over.

Still looking forward to its release.

I bought this game and 3 copies for my friends, it is so cute.
basically is skyrim 2d + super metroid 3 from snes + minecraft + megaman

the only bad thing is, game is getting too long to get finished...early access thing =p

You dun goofed bro (so did I, but quite a while ago).

Best Starbound review.

Even if they ever "finish" Starbound, Terraria still has 5 times more content at this point (and is still being updated).

I still think it has potential, but that might be the buyer's remorse talking..xD

The upcoming 1.0 update seems to address many of the issues, but when that's releasing is anyone's guess..

The team behind this dun goofed up promising things they couldn't deliver in a timely manner. Doesn't speak well for the consumers when they learn that they have chucklefish employees branching off to make other games too and seemingly finishing them. They even have the balls to post them on the starbound site and promote all the games they keep pumping out instead of finishing this game in a more complete package.

But oh well lesson learned....no more early access games for me..lol
