| I've revived my old rig to benchmark CBEN and what does it do to make it worse every update. Rig: Intel Core i5 2600k 4 cores @ 3.0GHz 8 GB Corsair Dominator 1666 MHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Asus Sabertooth P67 1 500GB Western Digital (SATA-300) - Every Update:
Every update, their Java Patcher frags so much of its resources and programs folder (same goes to sub-folders, skins, polygons and etc) thus triggering a slow load when in-game. Because of this, you should defrag the files (where you installed CB)after update (use Defraggler, Quick Defrag). Settings in Quick Defrag should be like this: - Spoiler:
200MB is fine. I just made sure it will get defragged I recommend doing this again after closing CB client to defrag skins as well.
Framedrops and input lags happen if your processor(or gpu) renders too many frames. You should limit it to at least ONE. - Spoiler:
This is for NVIDIA GPUs, I don't know about ATI if there's such setting.
Connection lag, pretty much obvious. Cyberstep limits our UL/DL limit to 100KB/s (or lower?) for skins and etc (opening shop, main/sub garage, garapons downloads default skins as well). - Spoiler:
I cleared all my CB cache, logged in, opened main and sub garage, observed high-populated arena rooms and quitted. There's no workaround here but to have at least 3mb/s and higher connection so outflow of the game is straight(and no momentarily freezes). Observe matches for 10 minutes (hop on HIGHLY POPULATED ROOMS to make it shorter) to download everyone's custom skins/polygons (and quick defrag it again). DO NOT force-quit client (ALT+F4 and/or Task Manager) because CB Client will "trash" the downloaded stuffs and WILL download EVERYTHING again(with the exemption of your client crashed by itself). Only for Windows 7: To force-quit CB client w/o "force quitting" is by right clicking CosmicBreak client in taskbar and click "Close Window" - Spoiler:
Client will save the skins and polygons and you don't have to worry about downloading them again(but it MAY re-download some, check the skins if it's getting bigger). I'm not really sure if this would work for you guys since my Main Rig doesn't have any problem in CB. I just tried my old rig on this problem since I might sell it (not getting used, gathering dust) and people nagging about the framedrops, connection lags and slow loads.

| Will try this when I get the chance to see if I get any noticeable improvements. I'm hammered with frame skips all the time along with my system being the proverbial dinosaur it is anything can help ATM.
BTW, when you say 'old rig' then slap an i5-core processor to this I can't help but envy your standard of computing. Lend me some cores, would you? D:

For ATI it's called Flip Queue. It's either in your Catalyst 3D settings or in your D3D settings if you use ATI Tray Tools.

| For the de-fragmenting I did notice a little improvement with loading speeds. As for the frame rate/skip issues they did nothing. The frame skips were frequent as ever. With that said I don't think there's anything those settings can do with the amount of resources CB takes to run. That, I believe, is all on CS' side of things to look at. | |

| Massive improvements around the board after this. Did Pepen Rebellion and got no lag and max frames. UI is like 5 seconds or less now. Arena is still frame skipping all the time, however. | |

It was a 2 year old processor that was side-lined when my uncle gave me my current rig. It's the only one I have in spare (and 2 more GTX 460s) - Poppet wrote:

If that happens, you still have some skins not downloaded from others. Observe skins sub-folder in programs folder and you'll notice 1 to 39 gets bigger(lock files are tend to make a temp stream for through-output)..

| the frameskips happened for me when bots spawned (regardless of how often in a match) and when specific effects where played (like bikinicrim balls)
its not only downloading of skins that causes the issue

| I've ran another test in skin fragmentation and it seems I'm correct. - Spoiler:
Skins stack from 1 to 39 and gets bigger (fize size) on download and client seems to frag it when saving.

| The problem is when you do a clean install of EVERYTHING, and it still runs as bad as it used to before formatting. Client is just getting shittier and shittier. | |

| I defragged the folder that has CosmicBreak in it. Not much changed.
Unless I'm doing something wrong.

| I, uh. Wow. I'll be defragging all day, really, because for some reason my main storage wasn't part of the regular schedule. (19% fragmented for 530 GB used, ouch...) I won't tell you how many times I've seen it go to a single CB skin file, and pull data from 10+ different sectors of the drive. - God is a Cat Girl wrote:

Because of this, you should defrag the files (where you installed CB)after update (use Defraggler, Quick Defrag) Though I'll agree that they need to revamp all of their garbage code, and update to a Java from sometime this decade. EDIT: Day? I meant week. All week. It still has 90 GB worth of fragmented files.

I bet that's just System Restore points.

I bet that's just System Restore points. Nope, that's a different drive. If only I were so lucky.

Skins stack from 1 to 39 and gets bigger (fize size) on download and client seems to frag it when saving. Mine was about 8 MB per file size at that directory with 1.4 GB size.... I delete those files, and start up with fresh 400 KB per file. After doing some skinning (about 200 skin save/loads), now i have about 2MB per file size. I wonder what the program doing with those... even though a single skin file only about 10 KB.
