Anyone play an instrument?

So,yeah.
I know i asked this in my intro, but i want to see if their is a hidden musical community in here!(tho probably not)

Soooo, what instrument do you play?
What type of music do you enjoy playing?
Are you in some sort of band or do you just like to play by yourself?

Just some random questions for the musicians of this forum, any other info can be added.

I play acoustic and bass guitar. I really like playing gentle bossa-type music on acoustic and more jazzy stuff on bass. I also really like playing spanish pieces on acoustic. I am going to be in my school's senior jazz band next week and I am sort of in a band with some of my friends-we haven't practised for sooooooo long, though XD

Anyway, I'm looking forward to finding out more about the musicians of CB!

I used to play the flute in my Freshman and Sophomore years, but I didn't continue to play it because I wanted to start focusing on areas I was more interested in.

I played the flute because it was the only instrument that I liked, and the sounds you can make with it is incredible to me.

Instrument playing is kind of a touchy thing with me.

If you weren't in band in the 8th grade, we were told we wouldn't be able to join band in high school. My Mom got ahold of my schedule and took me out of band and instead signed me up for Spanish. Am still pretty pissed about that.

But yeah, when I was in middle school I played the clarinet and was pretty good at it. Was told I could probably even start playing the Obo if I did band in 8th grade.

Forever bitter about not having band in high school.

Alto Saxaphone for 6 years and counting.
Also, First year on Mellophone/French Horn.

I wanna learn Piano and Violin.

I can't play any.
My dad taught me how to play a piano years ago, and I'm not really interested.

But I want to be able to play a guitar.

"Guitar is the easiest instrument to learn, and the easiest to fuck up".

Played Violin for two years, then quit.
Played Trumpet for two years, then quit.
Played Guitar for two years, then quit.
Played recorder for two years, then quit

Electric Bass for ~7 years
Guitar for ~6 years
Been dabbling in Synth/Keys for ~4 years
Percussion to an extent, but do not own my own drumkit due to space and volume issues.
And been recently working on vocals for a new project band for once my health is back in shape. Wanting to learn more strings (cello and viola specifically) but I lack the time to really invest in learning anything more. Infact I kind of ended up selling off almost all my gear once my health went downhill and I couldn't play gigs anymore, and now I only own one guitar with a little POD amp modeler that does all the amp work for me through my PC. All I need is my DACs and a guitar when it comes down to it.

I suppose we're free to post pictures of our favorite instruments aswell yes?

My current only guitar, a Douglas Hadron 727 TBG. Out of all the guitars I've owned (More than I can count, if you view my ss.org gallery, you can count for yourself: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/members/xeoflcl-albums-deceased-guitars.html . That's only a fraction, but I've owned around I'd say 20 to 30 different guitars and basses over my music career), this one only cost me about 250 and it's beaten many of my older guitars that cost me near and over 1,000usd. It's a 27" scale 7 string, H/S/H, all mahogany body and neck with ebony stripers, in a fucking beautiful striking lush green. It's definitely the most dynamic sounding guitar I've owned, and I wouldn't trade this one for the world. Love it so much. Pretty sure production to these got hard cut a few weeks ago, so this might be the last one I'll ever see since the brand is far from known well.

Before school had fully sunken its claws into me, I worked my way up to grade six piano. I once played for a talent show.

I have been playing guitar for around 7 years, and I played piano for 2 years. Someone thought me to drum,with sessions that I've been following for around 3 years.


I'd actually like to try the violin once, but I heard it was better to learn in when you're around 5 years old

Flute, Piano, Ukulele.

Jeez that must suck.too bad.I couldn't be in a band because there was always another bassist, and then when i was able to get in the junior band, the teachers let some dumbass 8th-grader in instead of me the music teachers at my school...1 one of em is a total bitch

Well, 6th or 7th grade me really liked the snake charmer song. <_<;

I remember liking a lot of fast songs, too.

Oh and for a concert once we played the Jurassic Park theme.

Well, i played flute during the young school days. I've also had some bandolin classes for a year, and eletronic organ for like 4 years. I still remember my best solo organ performance ever: Disney's Beauty and the Beast.


A shame that i forgot how to play it nowadays -.-'

Too bad i dont have piano.. I do have keyboard..
But its not enough for me, and that makes me lazy..

11 years of violin, though I've barely been playing it at all the last two years.

i've played percussion, flute and guitar since i was 11 years old, and drums since i was 15 and the genre(s)i like playing is metal (specifically power or prog ) and jazz too

i'd like to play some asian instruments as shamisen, erhu and taiko ^^
