Nooo, bad Kray.

Gimp is where it's at.

But yes, set the bottom layer to be your background and everything else you want on it to be above that layer and make sure the backgrounds are transparent.

My dad already bought PS for himself, so you know...

I'll check out Gimp some other time.

I meant the actual literal background. I have no issues setting something as the background but usually the actual background itself just sucks because I have nothing good to use.

I use Photoshop as well. I tried out GIMP once but I just prefer Photoshop.

Go looking for BG images or make one yourself out of a pattern or something

Also I mostly use paint.net
Photoshop is useful for its effect filters and stroke (outline)
