i totally liked metroid II for gameboy, played through it multiple times because its just a really good game
i didnt play those first person metroids from nowadays, but videos n games played by others i saw by chance didnt really catch my attention
on the other hand, i DID play some older and newer sidescrolling metroid games per emulator on pc and got caught in them - guess i just like those metroid games
(but zelda ... meh, was always missing the special something >.>)

those 3 would be the metroid prime series.
1) Metriod Prime
Spoiler:
2) Metriod Prime 2: Echoes.
Spoiler:
3) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Spoiler:
which received good ratings all-round for the first 2. the third, while still good, wasn't as good as the first 2 when it came to ratings (prob because of the quality of other games that were out then when it arrived.
these 3 actually had somewhat of a storyline to them in a sense that the events on the previous one showed in some sense in the next one. With the original metroid prime taking place after "super metroid" for the SNES.
then there are shoot-offs that explain a bit into the background of Samus(metriod fusion, metroid prime hunters, and the 3rd person shooter 1 for the wii i forgot its name.)

yeah a metroid anime would have made more sense to me then a zelda anime. having played most zelda games out and all but 1 metroid game. I can say that it will take alot more work to make a zelda anime and give it good quality at production end.
