Need some help with a new forum theme

The new theme isn't going to have a hexagon background. As of right now, I have it set to use the school background from the official site.

We're talking about the forum icons. Hexagons goes blatantly against how the site is set up.

I think having the flat part on the bottom or zig-zagging the hexagons would work

just a feedback, the current category icons look better, destruction girl aside (that's the only icon i would really change, maybe with a laz flamme)
it has nothing to do with the shape(hexagons or not), it's the content, the current icons are more expressive
while those above are all like ._. ._. ._.

He means the images itself. Only difference is that Laz has her mouth open and Lily doesn't.

Doesn't really matter what they look like. The first thing that catches your eye is the color and what's what I want to be different. So you can quickly see if there is any new posts.

I can see how one could easily mistake one for the other because of their similar pose though. Not everyone is caught by the colors themselves, but the positioning as well.

Instead of changing icons do something about that dead gray background and a lot of wasted space in header. Right now I even using my own CSS because I just can't stand this.

Well they had different enough colors when I was using Ouka but then you complained about that...

That image for Locked doesn't visually tell me that it's locked. I think you should choose an angry-face or sad-face image.

mmm, so far we have these(wished) traits for the category icons:

-faces pointing to the right, if they are not centered (as if they are looking at the topics)
-old mascot characters
-no samefaces, different expressions
-different colors
-different positioning
-image visually fitting the use


^agree with anti, ivis fits the best for "locked" of the ones suggested

still like more the current ones, but i would flip lily and crim so that they look to the right
and maybe ivis should have a comparable size with the other two, or she gets a close up, or the other two should be less zoomed

great improvement with locked, not convinced yet with the other 2

Now that I see that Lily.. I don't really like her.. even flipped. It's just the way that she's holding her head up.. it seems overly smug.. Looking at it makes me want to hurt her.. and we're going to see that one more than any other. I do think that her color scheme looks good.. and she fits the "old moes" theme.. but, I just don't like that particular picture of her.
