It's a javascript command

when you put it in the URL it tells java to find and run said program.

because it is easy to use, and used in various devices, including cellphones, you need to be careful, as there are those who try to hack you through javascript.

I think facebook even stopped using java, as they are a huge target as it is.


Shock Wave Flash, Flash Video, and PDF files are all also typically exploited as well.


be sure to go to java.com and adobe.com and keep your Java, Flash, and PDF programs/support/engines up to date. Also, don't run java apps you don't know/trust the author of, or who the source is. Java may prompt you first before letting you run a command/program.
